I am sketchy on details - I am at a loss for words and don't know what to say. Special thanks to one bad 69 - John Mathis for passing this info on to me.

From what I understand PHOENIX 383, Eric Meyer, his two sons were killed in a car accident earlier tonight. From what I understand - they were on HWY 171 in or around weatherford. They collided head on with an 18 wheeler and were killed instantly.

His wife was critically injured and was careflighted to the hospital. From what I understand she may not make it either. Their daughter was not with them at the time of the wreck.

I do not know any of the details other than this, so please do not post anything unless you know the facts.

So, please - in this time of need, remember the good times, our worthless arguments and above all a lost board member.

I will add details as I know them.

If I'm not mistaken, about 3-4 years ago, Eric sold his Camaro to help out a family member that had medical problems.

You are correct, he paid off his moms house. He was trying to sell his s10 truck to help his mother in law now. I believe she was the one with the medical condition.

I think it was his LS powered Chevy II, not sure though. Super Tuna or E as some called him was a stand up guy who I really enjoyed racing. He and the Boy's will truly be missed. I last got to see him and the Boy's at the DFWSS Christmas party when he came by to pick up some rims he bought from me.

Tuna Man, you and the Boy's take care up there and know one day I will come see you. Then we can get back to racing and maybe just maybe I'll drag your ass;)

Wow what a horrible thing to happen to a good family. I remember racing Eric so many times and talking all kinds of crap back and forth to him back in the truestreet days. He had a bad ass camaro and had it running real good before he sold it. Sometimes things just don't make since in life like this. It does just go to show you have to fully enjoy life while your here and not let anyone or anything drag you down during your short visit on earth. Does anyone know how old his boy's where? I can't imagine what it's like to lose a child let alone two and a husband. Many prayers will be needed for Erics wife and daughter. Eric may you and your boy's RIP.

I'm gonna miss that old fart. We used to kid around about that, who was the oldest old fart. I can remember back in the day when we street raced against each other, 8 or 9 years ago, and the nights at the track when he had both them boys and Sarah his daughter with him. Me and the boys would play grab ass and I would give them "nuggies" and they would just come back for more. lol

I was asked not to say nothing, but I'm going to do it anyway, a very, very good man has covered the the cost of burial for all three of them. That brought a third set of tears to my eyes. I had to pull over on the side of the road and cry again. I'm going to miss you Eric and the boys!

What is the news on his wife?

His wife is okay. From my understanding, there was another boy in the vehicle and he was setting in the passenger side back seat behind Candice, Eric's wife and the other kid are okay. From what I understand, when Eric went to pass the 18 wheeler there was a low boy 18 wheeler hauling a big dirt mover coming head on in the opposite lane. It was a wide load Caterpillar type tractor that the tracks hang off the side of the low boy trailer and Eric's vehicle couldn't get passed the truck in front of him in time and his vehicle hit the tracks on the big tractor on the drivers side of Eric's vehicle where he and his 2 boys where sitting. His wife was conscience through the whole ordeal. I can't imagine the horror she has gone through.

I'll remember every moment I spent with him and his family.

I appreciate everyone's patience while I tried to piece this all together and pick a date. I know everyone is eager to help Eric's family, but I wanted to get everything together before I posted anything.

We will be running TTT5 that night, and as people mentioned, I think this is an appropriate event to couple the Memorial with. What I am hoping to do is setup some tables in front of the snack bar and have some raffles going. I think we can do one raffle with $5 tickets (4 for $20) for things like a 2009 NSD Season pass, the bike that Kelly said he could get, and then any other prizes or gift certificates that we can collect. I think the other raffle could be for $1 tickets (6 for $5) and do a 50/50 deal. I also really like the idea of having people put up some money to race for/against Eric in the other lane. It would be really cool if we could put a car that Eric was associated with on the starting line in the stage lights, but we can work on that down the road. I am thinking we could ask for a $50 donation to race with Eric, and maybe do 20 to 30 races, that would raise over $1000 alone.

I am talking to the owner/GM at the track to figure out exactly what we can do with a cash donation the the family. I would like to use a good portion of the admissions that people coming for the Memorial pay at the gate and just give that to the family. That way, there would be sort of a built in donation when you came in the gate.

Anyway, now we need to get a list of volunteers to work the tables, handle the raffles, secure more prizes, etc. Also, we will need to probably get a couple of awnings brought out and some posters made to put up. I will use the PA to direct people over there and donate. I am really hoping that we can raise close to $5000 when it's all said and done.
