How often do you water your yard during the different seasons, what days and what time? I'm a new home owner with no clue.

during the summer i do 3 times a week at 10 min

depends how many zones you have to cover what part of the lawn, do you have a zone exclusively for the garden? do you have rotors or pop ups?

most houses i do we pre set them for 15minutes 2-3 times a week depending on how the customer wants the grass,

also depending on what flowers they have in the garden depends on how how much the garden gets watered


after our trenches are healed we recommend they go to watering for 10 minutes

we also set ours to go off at 4-5am

thats for spring/summer

fall you dont water as much and for winter the rain/freeze sensor will tell

I have the same question... 8 zones, both rotors and popups.

Do I need to put a pan outside and see how long I have to water to get a certain depth in the pan or what?

I run 8 zones, 10 mins (on avg) a piece with pop ups and rotors. I have mine set to run every 3 days at 5am during the spring/summer and rarely during winter. The rain sensor also comes in handy as well.

Some zones I will use less time on due to runoff and it being smaller zone. I got a pen and paper, turned them on one by one and made notes on run times and adjusted accordingly.

9 zones and generally do 10 min per zone 3 times per week at 5am.

I vary the time and frequency with rain and temp variations.

I leave it off mid-Oct to mid-March.

My neighbor has his on a well and waters all the time. My yard looks nicer and only gets mowed once a week vs his 3:)

Once a week in the fall, twice a week in the summer unless there is rain. Total cycle time is 60 minutes at 6 am. I have 4 zones, 2 are with fixed heads and 2 are with rotating. The fixed head zones run for 10 mintues and the rotating zones run for 20 minutes.

my neighbor waters about every hour! he is on a well too and I hardly see his yard without the water on! he told me he spends over 5k a year on just the lawn guys!
