Looks great! Just curious... how come you don't show afters under the same lights as the before? Why not take both sets of pics in the same conditions?

That little spot light(in the after pictures) shows more defects than the halogen lights that I use in the befores. I guess I could start taking pictures with the spot light, but I'm usually so engulfed in my work, that I don't even think about it. I use the halogen lights to work under since that little spot light is so hard to hold while I'm buffing :D

Nick Chapman

Here's the best example I could find quickly. Notice how the halogen lights don't show all of the defects, yet the little spot light does?

Anyone can make paint look good under a halogen light. Throw it under that little spot light, and it will show all of your flaws ;)

I'm slowly learning. It's starting to get fun now. I'm figuring out more and more about this camera, and the pictures get better and better(at least I think). At first I thought I wasted my money, but now I'm seeing the difference.

Nick, I know you don’t want to give away trade secrets and stuff. But how many different steps did you do to get that result?

Was it as easy as using an aggressive rubbing compound, to a medium cut, to a lighter cut, to a polish?

Pretty much sums it up. The reason it takes me so long to complete a car, is because of the amount of steps involved. I can do it quicker and cheaper, but for a job like this, there are a lot of steps involved.

one of these days when my trucks running... we'll find out how long it takes you to clean & restore the paint on a truck that's been sitting out side and hasn't been washed in about 3 years... unless you count rain:o

Tell them to stop washing that car with sandpaper.

That's what happens over time with towel drying and washing at the DIY places with brushes and shit. It's just more obvious on black cars.

Just curious, but when you noticed someone obviously is doing a very poor job maintaining their vehicle, do you give them advice when they come to pick it up?

Of course I do, but sometimes people kind of get offended that I try and correct their washing habits. I guess they feel like I'm getting onto them. I try and feel the person out. If I think they are going to get offended, then I leave it be.

Kinda like going to a car show, and seeing a decent car all swirled up. Hey man nice car, why does it look like shit? :D

You could always say
"Hey, what brand sand blaster do you use to rinse the soap off?" and gauge their response.
