as some of you might have seen in my thread asking for home owner insurance advice you will know i have aquired a lot of guns due to my fathers passing. i have 33 guns now and need a safe/safes here at the house. i have 15 pistols and the rest are rifles/shotguns so i'd need something quite large. any advice on where to look for this type of stuff? thanks in advance!

1) dont go cheap. The ones walmart sells, even the most expensive, are easily broken into.

2) place it near an exterior wall. this will allow you to tell the fire dept to knock down that wall so you can get the safe out in case there is a fire at some point. you man need a few safes to hold 33 tho.

how much are you willing to invest?

Get it anchored to the floor, if possible.

Also, dont do an interior wall that is against the garage. Sort of paranoid, but if the theif can just knock a small hole thru the wall and wrap a chain around the safe and pull it out of the anchor bolts in the floor, they might try it.

I need to pick one up too, but shit, any decent one is some skarilla!:(

Most decent safes are fire proof...

Check this thread out. While it may not answer where to put it, it will help to clarify the whole fire rating thing. Is your safe up to snuff?

Damn. Been halfway watching Pale Rider and reading the thread. Just found post 33 which is pretty good. Hadn't clicked any of the links. Gonna google that sturdysafe thing for sure though...
