Shopping for a .40 Standard/Full Frame and have zoomed on the following:

Glock 22, S&W M&P or Springfield XD.

My take:
Glock has its name behind it. Trigger safety. But...its Austrian. And grip is rather..."thin"
S&W M&P. Feels good. Trigger safety. Has the quick chambered peep-hole.
XD. Feels good. Chambered indicator. Pin indicator. Trigger safety. Grip safety. Don't know much about it, though. Made in Croatia?

Just wanted y'alls opinions and experiences with any that you've used.

I don't really like the grip angle on the glock, but obviously they have a strong following...

I love my XD45, I haven't had a single failure with 600+ rounds, and I've put 5 different types/brands of ammo through it. Its cheap, accurate, reliable, easy to strip and clean, and I prefer the single action trigger feel. I do want to get some trigger work done mainly to remove some of the "take up"

I love my Glock. The only other gun I would own would be a Sig Sauer.

I would look at those as well.

All good guns. I went with Glock (over XDs) because they felt better to me. Can't go wrong with any of the 3 unless you get a S&W that has the feature where it won't fire if the magazine's removed. Just retarted imo.

Shoot all three and see which one you like. I prefer the Glock but like all guns they are a love it or hate it experience.

Yep, shoot all three, but my vote went for the XD, since I already have several, and like how they feel/shoot.

IMO the grip on the .40cal Walther P99 and the H&K USP/USP Compact feel best to me.

That P99 does have a great grip, and I believe they ship them with 3 different back straps so you can customize it to you.

Besides my Kimber, the Glock is really the only other pistol I've ever owned or carried. My current Glock 27 I've had since 1999 which was before either of the other models listed. It's what I'm comfortable with although I'll admit I've never tried either the M&P or the XD but why try to fix what's not broken for me?

Try them all at the range and see what's right for you.

I've fired two of the three. I ended up with a Sig. The sig was more comfortable in my hands and feels more solid. Second choice was the XD.

I've fired the Glock before, but that's a good idea on test shooting. I'll have to see if a local range has them to lease/test shoot.

I would say what ever fits your hand best and you shoot best, I would lean for either the xd or glock. I like the s&w but there service aint that great and I hate the triggers on those m&p's.

I've carried a S&W for 14 years now. Mind you it's the stainless 4006, but still I carry it because it's the only one with the magazine dump safety.

Plus, I love stainless guns.

I have the glock 23 and the XD 40.

Both are good guns, durable, dependable and accurate.
Pick whichever one fits your hand the best.

Just out of curiosity, why do you like the mag safety?

After shooting XD's and Glocks...I prefer XD's. THey feel better to me and just seem like they are better quality. My cousin now prefers XD's over his glock after shooting my XD40

I've had a Sig 229 .357 and it was probably the best gun I've ever owned, I've also had the Glock 21 (.40) and now I own a Glock 32 (Sig.357) the Glock is very lightweight and deadly accurate out of the box, point & shoot has never been easier with a Glock...'H'

Henry, the Glock 21 is the full-size .45 ACP. The 22, 23, and 27 are the full-size, compact, and subcompact .40 S&Ws (respectively).

Ended up getting the XD40. Felt good in the hand. Almost went with the XDm40, but the extra $120 wasn't it worth it to me for the features.

Can't wait to squeeze a few through my own, tomorrow.

Thanks for all of y'alls input!

I own a glock and a sig and I would rather shoot my glock any day.
