the gun I've been looking for. And I'll be placing a bid tonight on this one once I speak to the auction over the phone. comes with Kurz dies.. but the bolt and charging handle don't match, I'm willing to bet they won't get what they are looking for on this one. Hopefully I can take advantage of that.

Eh, the last major gun auction they held, they pretty much got market value on everything. But times have changed. If you're serious about an MP44, I know where there's 3 to be had.

I've been looking for one for a while, are they full autos, or are they semi? Yes, I'd be interested.

"I lit him up before I fired officer."

I believe our infrared setup was a direct copy of the germans - the STG-44 had this for SS troops, as well as some earlier kar98 variants.

Did they carry around a 12v in a backpack to power that bish?

I have no idea, but I would guess it was probably a 6v. My Willys MB jeep is 6v.

They carried a 6v battery pack and some other gizmo that was able to up the necessary volts to work it.

Why is the end of the barrel flared like that, is it some sort of flash suppressor?

Well, if it's anything like the jap's application it's use to concentrate the sound of the gun forward only, to make it more difficult to locate by sound.

Yeah, I was looking at that. I didnt know there was an MP5 variant that was .308 - looks like it would hurt... but you gotta love that motto engraved on the receiver.

It's called a G3.:wink1:

For this gun all they did was take an HK91, register the receiver as a machine gun, and make the HK21 mods to it and shorten the shit out of it.

:) Yeah I have a G3, but this receiver is completely different looking. The only thing I see from a G3 on this gun is the flash suppressor, nothing else.

They pretty much butcher the shit out of teh receiver. An HK21 isnt a friendly gun to shoot. The 91etc receivers have to have stregthening added to them so do dont break as easily when you convert a gun to 21 configuration.

Even true HK21 receivers take a brutal beating and break often.

Could it look different because it's belt fed? I don't know much about the difference, but I still like it. It reminds me of the one-man M60's the SEALs carry.

It is absolutely completely different, It looks like an Mp5 converted to shoot .308 than it is a G3 converted to be short. The receiver lines are not there, the swing down trigger group pin is not there, and like David said a ton of shit welded on half assed - it really is an ugly looking gun, the welds look like an erector set. The G3 did have belt fed variants, but it was a large enough frame to not look wonky.

It doesnt look like it, but they are G3 platforms.
