Well I am honestly a little bit in panic mode right now.....
As most fo you knwo I bleed Eagles green. As it sits right now they are set to lose a lot of Veteran players at midnight tonight....
Brian Dawkins
Tra Thomas
Correll Buckhalter
Sean Considine
I am simply astonished they have not signed Dawkins to a 1 or 2 year deal yet. Granted her is 36 years old now, he is STILL a Pro Bowl safety and without doubt the heart and soul of the Eagles. I can see letting him go if he was dropping off in productivity, but man he had an amazing year last year.
He better get signed in Philly, I'll leave it at that. The rest, I can see leaving, but man the Eagles ahve some work to do on the O line and RB. They do have 2 First round picks though and PLENTY of cap room. Trade ammo and money is a good thing.
How do the Boys look? I am pretty much up to date on them, but am obviously not an avid follower. I don't think they have too much cap room so I am not sure what they can do.
Lots of big names hit the open market yesterday. Coles, Galloway, Brooks, Lewis, TJ Housh, Ward are all going to be out there.....

seems like there are a lot of receivers that are going to be on the market....I think the Cowboys should look at one or two. Not to replace Owens, but to replace that spare Patrick Crayton, or that underachiever Roy Williams. We need a #2 to step up this year since Owens production is down, and Williams is not the answer.

I'd be surprised too if they didnt sign Dawkins. In my eyes, seems to me like he is their team leader and not McNabb.
As far as the boy's... Last I heard I think they had good amount of cap room, but was working on a few contracts like Ware, Newman and some others.

That is a VERY true statement. The Eagles organization is know for not signing players in their 30's to contract extensions.
This isn't just any player though. Dawkins may have lost a step in coverage but he is still a FORCE in the game. He had an All Pro year at the age of 35-36 this year. He won defensive player of the month once this past season and played well all season. He almost single handedly beat the Steelers in week 3 and took over in thier late season run.
He is their heart and Soul, and if he can play a season or 2 more he should be signed with no questions asked.
If he plays for another team I don't think I will ever fogive the Eagles for it. He is the most beloved figure in Philly and most importantly he can still play. Let him stay an Eagle his whole career and give him a chance or 2 more at that Super Bowl. He deserves to win it in Philly.......

give me a break...one 1000 yard season, never double digit TD's and mainly grabs around 50-60 catches a year. That is NOT a #1 receiver, I don't care if you were on the Lions or not. Hell, he wasn't even the #1 guy in Detroit. If he is the go to guy on the Cowboys, they are in trouble. Even Signing Houshmandzadeh would be an upgrade from Williams.

I thought Newman had a new contract about 2 years ago?
Roy Williams is a good rec'ver, but I would look at getting another solid rec'ver to help out. TO cries too much and I'm not sure if he will be on board with it.
I would trade Roy Willams Safety he can cover nor hit like he used to.

yea, those 17 receptions for 232 yards over 4 games was really putting a dent in calvin johnsons numbers...as in 7 for 107 and 6 for 129 to start the season vs. Roy's 1 for 20 and 1 for 6.
Did I mention when Roy was the only one there, he never had that many TD's or yards?

We need a SS that can cover. I really don't care about the hitting... In regards to Ray Lewis that guy is a beast at LB, but we don't need him. He wants way too much money. Also Bradie James has a great year! Chris Canty is the other player we need to lock up or Jay Ratclif.

As far as I'm concerned, they need to look to pick up a WR, QB, DE, Safety, and CB.
I'd be ok with them cutting a deal with Dre Bly to cover the CB position.
As far as safety, I have no idea. Word has it, that they are moving Roy Williams to LB.
QB - I don't care, as long as it's not Vick, and it's someone that will push Romo to do better.
DE - Don't know who will be available, but we need another lights out DE. That's why Pittsburgh's D has done so well. They've got those physical, forceful DEs. Greg Ellis just can't cut it anymore. That said, he'd do a hell of a lot better if the fucking dumbasses quit making him drop back in to coverage, rather than contain and pursue the QB. But, he screamed about it all year last year, and they never did anything. Due to that, I don't see the scheme changing, thus Ellis needs to go as soon as they find a replacement.
The rest of the needs, can be covered in the draft. I'd even be ok with a backup QB coming out of the draft, as opposed to FA. We need a vet a CB to help these young guys we drafted progress. I'd prefer at vet at DE, as well.

as much as I was a huge Roy fan when he was wearing the Chrimson and Cream, and was pulling for him to turn it around...I think it is pretty obvious after last season that he is a non-impact player on defense now, and moving him is probably a viable option...assuming you could get someone in return for him. If not, he might be good as the middle man in a nickel defense.

DAWKINS NOT DONE IN DENVER
Posted by Mike Florio: Friday, February 27, 2009 7:08 PM
Contrary to reports linking free-agent Eagles safety Brian Dawkins to the Denver Broncos, Adam Schefter of NFL Network reports that the deal "definitely" isn't done.
"He's in the air, on plane, not even in Denver yet," Schefter says.
Earlier in the day, David White of the San Francisco Chronicle reported that an agreement was reached.

Dawkins leaving is a huge blow to the Eagles. Not only was he still making big plays, he was the emotional LEADER of the team. His leasership will be missed more than his ability I am sure.
What really pisses me off as a die hard fan is that he could still play! Let him finish his career as an Eagle. The Eagles did have a 2 year deal on the table for Dawkins, but apparently the bigger contract moved him outta town.
I am actually kind of surprised at that from Dawkins. He was very loyal to Philly and I thought a 2 year deal was very fair compensation seeing as he'll be 36 next season. Another sad story of a player who should have stayed iwth his team to retire.
Dawkins is my favorite Eagles of all time, most likely always will be. I am disappointed in my team for allowing this, but it's the NFL, it's time to fucking move on. Eagles are thin at Safety after losing Considine to the Jags as well.

Give me a fucking break man. He was a hated rival and when it happened live no one knew how serious the injury was. If Romo got knocked the fuck out I'd be cheering loud and proud. If he was seriously hurt though I'd wish him nothing but getting bettter. No one should wish a serious injury on anyone, end of story.
Just cause half a stadium cheered an injury doesn't justify grouping all fans in that category.
