Hot Water Heater Timer?

Does anyone know where you can buy one of these? I tried home depot and they claimed they don't sell them. Being that I live alone and really only need hotwater once a day I figured it would help my electric bill out. I'm sure heating water all day long that no one is using is where the majority of my electricity is going.

Both Home Repo and Blowes carry them, try someone else in one of the stores... I nearly bought one there awhile back.

Turning down the warm heating temp helps a bunch also........ For me i would rather do that than forget about the timer and jump inot a cold shower.......

Get a timer/controller for the thermostat.........that will cut energy costs

I already have it turned down to the lowest setting. I'm just looking to take it a step farther since like I said I only need hotwater once or twice a day.

If I were you, I would get a water heater timer, not a hot water heater timer...

LOL thanks man. I swear them idiots at Home Depot piss me off. I asked two differnt people if they sold them and they claimed they didn't. I guess I'll head back up there this weekend.

Yes, they are Intermatic brand and are basically the same as a pool pump timer. They come in 40a and 80a models. Check your breaker and heater so you know which model to get. Most households will use the 40 amp model but larger capacity heaters may use a 60 amp.

I put one in a few months back as well as a timer for the hot water recirculator. Pretty sure theres a thread floating around here somewhere on that.

that one pictured is an old model, get the one that has the master switch on the front that pokes thru the door.

Once you establish your Mon-Fri schedule you most likely will want to manually control it on the weekends. Will come in handy if you sleep in and shower later than you do thru the week.
