While drinking some beers tonight DJ (Baron) and I noticed that this particular establishment could use a group or retarded alcoholics one night a week, and decided that there should be a N. Arlington GTG.
Swamp Daddy's (Collins & Rd to Six Flags)
Wednesday evenings
Anyone interested?

I heard "retarded alcoholic" and got here as fast as I could.
Anyways, Eric and I went there once and it wasn't too bad. Not too crowded, decent stuff coming out of the jukebox, typical fried seafood fare in a basket, cold beer, priced reasonably. I'd make an appearance from time to time.

I use to go to swamp daddy's all the time, unfortunately a lot of people know me there, and I hate people so it kind of makes me a little anti-social there. Should see if Talisman is interested. I'm up for it.

I'm not sure what it's like this time of year, but for a big part of the year, that place is the central main headquarters for the biggest flock of black birds on the continent. I have seen cars of all colors parked there for an hour and come out completely drenched in brown and white bird shit. It's not uncommon at all for humans to get pelted too.
Leaving that area after a beer or two is a really bad idea as well. There are cops all over the place on Wednesday nights because of Sherlocks. They hang out on all of the roads leading out of there, ready to pounce.
Cool place, but consider yourselves warned.
That said, I am down for a North Arlington weekly gtg. And I like Swamp Daddy's. I just wish they could figure out a way to do something about the bird situation.

I've got plumbing duty tonight, but I'll be checking back for future gtg's. Jared is right about those birds. When Eric and I went it was like some crazy movie. Fuckers were everywhere. If they ditched those trees since, it would be a big plus.

Yeah, they used to hang out in the row of live oaks there. I didnt hear so much as a chip the other night, so hopefully they are gone now. I just parked in the 2nd strip of parking spots, and walked swiftly in. Never was a huge issue then.

Those are the same trees, but it appears to have been cleaned up a little since I was there last, two years ago maybe. The bird thing is seasonal, I just don't remember when it's in season. You had to have noticed the bird pandemic before. It's not just Lincoln Square, or even Arlington for that matter. It happens all over DFW. Insane SS army's of black birds that literally swarm a particular area at dusk and camp out for the night, the concrete below them absolutely painted white. Even if I drove a piece of shit I wouldn't want to park anywhere near the trees where they reside. It had a solid affect on business for Lincoln Square.
Anyways, bird shit or no bird shit, I'm still down. I'll just park away from the trees and walk a few extra yards.

You are correct, it gets so bad some times near the Water Gardens in FTW that the city hires people to sit down there and shoot some special non-lethal shotgun shell every 5 mins or so to scare them away... it's like a m-80 firecracker from a shotgun.
I may be out, simply because I got pretty drunk the past few nights. I should stay home and recover.
