They beat OU tonight. That pretty much sealed their deal for the tournament. For a moment I was getting worried. But great win tonight. Abrams played awsome in the second half.

I mentioned in an earlier thread (after A&M beat UT) that I don't follow college BB. I still don't, but I did chuckle a little about this one.

took OU losing the best player in the country for it to happen too

It's unfortunate, but it's just another excuse. It doesn't matter who, what, or why once it hits the "W" column...

Good game. Texas was controlling the glass and being physical on Blake Griffin all night (first half). Griffin wasn't effective even before his concussion. I'm not saying Texas would have won anyway, because they barely squeaked by in the end, but they played well. It certainly helps move Texas to a 6-7 seed instead of a 9-11 in the Tourney.

Griffin had like 2 points when he got hurt in the first half with 5 min. to go. He wasn't playing all that well to begin with. But good excuse.:nutkick:

According to the article (yeah, I can read), UT was beating up on his ass quite a bit. Maybe they found a "soft spot"?:sly:

excuse? When Griffin is on the floor, he is 20% of the team. Basketball is one game where one man can make or break a team. It isn't like football (an equivalent would be losing Tebow, Harvin and having another stud at 50%). Basketball is a team sport, but when you have someone that dominates, losing them really does matter.

you are right, having the best player in college basketball out for over half the game had no impact on the final score. :tool:

If that makes you feel better then have at it. The only things that matters is Texas beat the #2 team in the nation and has won 7 of 8 games against OU.:nutkick:

I definitely agree it made a difference. I'm just saying it doesn't matter...

actually, the only thing that matters is how many games in a row you can win come tournament time. You can have your mid-season win, it will ultimately mean nothing

you are right about that, the only loss that matters in college basketball is the one you suffer in March

Like Ryan said above, Griffin was being man handled by Pittman while in the game. The lose of Griffin hurt, but would Willie Warren have had the kind of game he had (who single handedly kept ou in the game) if Griffin was there and got the ball more?? Warren and A.J. put on a shooting clinic in that second half. And for A.J. it was about fucking time.
after the game they showed OU's top wins being over Purdue, Baylor and Texas. Me and my brother looked at each other and said "REALLY?" that's it?? OU is damn good but i hope that lack of playing "tough" competition besides in the big12 doesn't hurt them deep in the NCAA tourny.
i think even with this win, UT still ends up with 5 seed at best. And that 5 spot isn't easy
