Do you have 45hrs of College?
Do you want to make over $50k a year starting pay?
We are giving our annual test on March 7th. You have a few days left to get an application in...

Written is common sense, math and reading comp. The physical is not that bad. If you workout at all you should be fine.

I would but I don't like blood and I don't work out.
FWIW my mom wrote the written test for the Carrollton FD 15-20 years ago, it wasn't hard when I was ~12, so the average DFWstanger might struggle.

Same here. Wanted to check out a Game Warden position as well but you have to have a degree of some sort. I fucked myself working straight out of high school

dont feel bad they are the hardest agency to get on in the state. they generally accept 40 canidates a year and only accept about 30 of them.

do they hire somewhat steadily? i would definitely be interested in this after college. other than the college credits is there anything in particular they require? or any specific college classes? also, i had shoulder surgery, but have recovered. would that be an issue?

If you can pass a physical and a functional test i dont see the shoulder being an issue. 45hrs is all you need. Yes, we test every year.

Just curious I have noticed some Fire Depts requiring a certain amount of college hours. Why do some fire depts require certain "hours" of college? I tried to get in with the airport fire dept but they required 30 hours, and now I see Carrollton wants 45. It just seems like they want odd ball numbers concerning your college hours

I dont make the rules, im not sure really. Civil Service has a lot to do with it. We have one of the lowest requirements and i have only around 100 people test each year. Odds are very good compared to other cities.

I know, was just wondering. Just seems like they pick odd numbers to base there college hour requirements and why do they even care if someone has college course work. I would think someone that is smart enough to pass the academy and has the EMT certificate, would be able to join. I'm not directing this at you...just a general statement

So...LOL.
Greg, were you there at the test? My buddy tried out but said all the positions were full. Weird. The guy is a triathlete and has a Master's degree so I don't think he did poorly in either the mental or physical part. Do you work at the Carrollton FD? I know a guy who is a FF there. If you want to PM me an answer that is fine too.

Yeah, who is your friend that works there.
I wasnt at the test this year. It was just writen the exam. Top 25 will take the physical. The test scores are good for whole year, if we dont have any positions now, we will as people retire...
