Yes, I think the trainer was doing wrong. But the captioned shot of a tub of vaseline? lmao...they are allowed to have it. The "back of the head" punches to the ear... :-/

you ever tried to hold on to a greased pig? now get the strongest guy at 170 and put grease on him. I bet and won $$$ on GSP that night but Penn does have a legitmate argument that GSP cheated...I still think GSP wins that fight without the aid of Vaseline but he should be dealt with harshly and quickly.

I agree, I am pretty damn good at holding people in the rubber guard. If it wasnt hard to keep him down and get the fight to its feet in the first couple of rounds to start jabbing early and or more sbmissions. It doesnt matter now but the proof is there. If hes that much better, why did he feel like he had to cheat to win? Makes no sense to me at all.

Alright, totally unbiased comment here... I entered this thread to flame BJ for being a whiny bitch, but I watched the video, and that's really a good synopsis of not only some questionable history, but the video doesn't lie. No matter how you slice it, that shit is against the rules, period. I thought GSP completely dominated him and honestly figured no matter what complaint BJ had, and no matter how much vaseline was on him, it wouldn't have changed the outcome, but from watching GSP and BJ in their fights, BJ's significant advantage over GSP was his ground game - specifically his guard, and this essentially nullified it.

I don't care if BJ would have won or not, cheating is cheating, and I'm glad GSP and the Jackson camp is being called on it. It's not going to change what's in the past, but at least those guys should not get away with it anymore.

It's a justifiable complaint by BJ. He couldn't use rubber guard or keep St. Pierre's head down when GSP was in BJ's guard. That right there could have changed a whole lot in the fight. The little bit of Vaseline that was on GSP gave him an unfair advantage and that is what BJ is complaining about. Totally legit complaint IMO.

You missed the part where I said GSP was in the wrong :)
Doesn't keep BJ from reaching and sounding whiny.

For those saying it wouldn't have changed the outcome. I disagree.

You could tell BJ gave up at a point in the fight, nothing was working, and he was discouraged. I think the corner threw in the towel knowing there was no way he could win without his ground game.

Let them fight again, this time, absolutely no vasoline, complete monitoring of the pre-fight and in between rounds.

Let them solve this in the ring, under fair rules, if GSP wins again, then he is the greater fighter. The same goes for Penn.

If that fight goes down I would still bet on GSP, but hopefully we will get to see.

That was a well put together video. I think GSP would have won anyway but i think the fight would have been way more competitive. The "greasing" might have allowed Pierre to posture up and throw more effective elbows and punches from BJs gaurd, wearing him down quicker. I called before the fight that BJ would win a couple rounds and eventually gas i think that the effective GNP wore him down a whole lot quicker.
Just my two cents if it makes sense whatever i am just tired.

I honestly can't stand Penn and had hoped GSP would win. After watching that video I am disgusted with GSP's camp. They should strip that win, levy some hefty fines, and put them back in the ring with GSP under a microscope.

I can't watch the video b/c I'm at work. BJ has a great argument, but they need to fight again. If they do, I have a feeling that GSP will still come out on top. BJ looked gassed after round 1. Maybe if they fight again, he'll take his conditioning a little more seriously.

GSP is a fraud, I think the outcome will be different if hes not greased up. IMO Bj one the first fight, GSP cheated in the second fight and there will be a third.

Wut:thinking:

I thought personally he should have one that fight but GSP won the fight on the scorecards...

If you don't know, the GSP thing follows accusations of greasing against Diego Sanches (when he was with Jackson) and Rashad Evans.

Nate Marquardt is from Jackson's camp, and although you could not see between round footage, he looked clean last night. Maybe this will get them to change their ways.

I said it from the beginning, how many of you would like to race me if I get to break the rules but you have to follow them? How many would like to fight someone who can break the rules but you have to follow them?

For those who think this didn't affect the fight or can't see it, how about we play some cards for money some time and you follow the rules and I get to keep some cards up my sleeve and use them when I choose?

GSP decided to cheat so he could get an advantage and that is exactly what happened.

grappling is about strategy, position, agility, speed... and traction. If you train for a fight planning to use a ground game and submissions, and you can't get a grip of your opponent because his corner is applying water-resistant i.e. sweat resistant petroleum jelly on his neck, back and chest... you're gonna fucking lose.
