View Full Version : How do you clean your laminate floors?

I've had laminate flooring for about 4 years now. The first year we tried using many different spray cleaners and a Swiffer to get up all the dog hair and dust balls. EVERY liquid cleaner left a fucking residue/haze on the floor and left it looking like shit. I used a very tiny bit of Pledge once and the floors looked amazing! Problem was that my dogs were slippin and sliding all over the place and I felt real bad for them.

Nowadays, I just a vacuum set on "bare floor" to suck everything up and go over spots with a damp paper towel.

What does everyone else do to maintain these fuckers? Is there a special vacuum or cleaner that works real well for these?

I have real wood floors. I had a plain swiffer at first but found this that works great on them.

Their website says it can be used on sealed laminate as well.

You can also get the swiffer refill cloths really cheap at Sam's as well in a large box of 64.

Either a combination of white vinegar and warm water or Bruce's floor cleaner and terrycloth mop. I prefer Bruce's.

Just wear some big cushy socks and walk around with a spray bottle and drag your feet.

Although I have Pinnacle Flooring, Bruce Floor Cleaner is the only non Pinnacle product I have used that does not leave a wax buildup on my floors.

Dust mop, micro-fiber cloth and the Bruce stuff.

Vinegar and water works well too, just don't use it right before you have guest over due to the smell.

I found this stuff:

and used a scotchbrite instead of their cleaning pad. Total improvement looks new again.
Last two pictures are the finished product.

I have engineered hardwood and the Bruces cleaner is the only thing I found that actually cleans the floors. It seems like everything else left a film or a waxy buildup.

Thanks for this info, I just put in Brazilian Cherry wood floors last week and was asking around but you answered my question.
