You gotta understand that the people in Hollywood are the same weird mother fuckers in high school that would sit indian style on top of the lunch tables screaming random shit. They're just paid to do it now.

How so? It's been known for a while that he said he wanted to stop acting and focus on a music career, and I heard a couple weeks ago that it was a "rap" career. The guy is just a lunatic. Most actors are.

On the Letterman clip posted, he said it was hip hop

After watching the whole thing he hops right up at the end and is very talkative. He also takes off his glasses.. I think it was staged as well.

That's the setup. Or at least, that's a theory. He's got a camera crew that follows him everywhere. He claims it is because he wants to have a documentary of his new rap career. Some people are saying it might be a Borat type of thing though.

If that's the case, then cool. Let's hope.

Yessir, it is!! I dream of owning a beard of that magnitude one day. I seriously doubt I will achieve such greatness.

"It's an art project for him," the source continued. "He's going full out. He probably has told his reps that he's quit acting. Joaquin is very smart. This is very conscious. He has a huge degree of control."

LMAO,, that's funny. But doesn't Phoenix have an Oscar and a Grammy? What does Jim Belushi have?

I think he was nominated for an Oscar but never won it. I am not 100% positive. As far as a grammy, that is for music, I don't think his singing career is fabulous yet (nor will it ever be.) LOL

I think you're right about the Oscar, and you have a fair point about the Grammy.

Just because a few in Hollywood are, doesn't mean "most" are.

I read it was a spoof. That he is only doing it as a joke. Like others have said. Like Borat. but if not!! :crackhead:

Yep, keeping seeing and reading the rumor of him and Casey Affleck filming a Borat style spoof.

I think the "Borat" parallel should be dropped. Sacha Baron Cohen always plays a character that dupes someone who isn't familiar with that character. If this is indeed a hoax, Phoenix is performing a social experiment with is own reputation on the line. Much more interesting if you ask me.

I don't think it's a joke or a bit because there's no hook....there's no punchline. Whats he's going to do "ahahahaha, you thought I made a complete fool of myself and I did. ahahaha, I can't rap and you thought I couldn't rap, so I got you good you fockers". There's no punchline.

Spoken like a P1. I am hoping it is as Blake said a social experiment. He has been one of my favorite actors since Gladiator and it is kind of depressing to see a guy go that far off the rocker.

I think the punchline can be delivered via the mockumentary that Casey Aflek is filming.

Yea, I did agree with the snake's broadcast. But I think I got the idea from someone here at work before I actually saw it. Either way, i'm sticking to the fact that it's not a bit. Mockumentary or not, there's no punchline. He's just damaging his reputation.
