What the hell are you guarding at $27/hour?
That's more than some police officers make.

Gotcha. Just to be clear, I'm not dissing it at all.
I did collections for a VERY short time back in the 90's and I vowed I wouldn't do it again. I had friends that liked it and were good at it but it was almost unendurable to me. That said, I'm sure I will get to the point where it is acceptable if nothing else comes across.
And hell, even the $10.20 an hour is more than unemployment.

After almost a year of trying to find a job I kinda got to that point where Ill do whatever as long as it doesnt involve fast food and pays enough to cover afterschool care for the kids. Plus I cant turn down that they offer benefits as of day 1.

Yeah, if my company hadn't given 1 year free medical / dental as apart of severance I would jump all over that.. Though as I recall Citi was a little high on the medical costs. (Worked there from '01 to '05)

the united states military.... there is a job for just about anyone, and they will take damn near anyone... so why are so many people un-employed? they don't want to step up and serve their country... no offense to those who've previously/currently served.

I tried and I would love to join the marines but while I'm at boot camp my wife can't pay all the bills by herself. So that is why I can't join. Plus I have a job but I have always wanted to be a marine.

"they will take damn near anyone"......that is the damn truth. I think that most people are affraid of the two quaranteed deployment AOs Afghanistan and Iraq. Not sure why from what I have seen only about 15% of the men/women in Afg actually leave the wire daily and out of those only 50% will ever fire a weapon in defense of their lives and or others.
It sucks that people can't find work these days and that layoffs continue. I for one am affraid of the job market and that is what has kept me in Afghanistan for three years and for God knows how many years to continue. Funny I am more affraid of not finding a job worth a shit than I am of the immediate threat here. :rocketwhore:
Good luck

I worked for the Diamond Group for over six years in Austin. I just recently moved back to DFW. People could not believe me when I told them what I was making doing security. We too made 27+ h&w an hour plus several hours of paid training a month and overtime when needed. I was making anywhere from 65k-70k a year. I now contract out executive services( thats where the big $$$ is. ) So little work. I heard people all of the time laugh at security in general, and I made twice as much as they did.
