Anyone ever but tile over the concrete of your back porch to make it look better? We're considering it, but I just wanted some opnions.
Thanks
slippery when wet..........
I'm looking to do the same thing. Can't seem to find one I like. I was thinking like a adobe red, like little bricks.
I've seen a patio done in Ipe wood tiles and it looked great. $12 a square foot though:eek2:

We covered our back porch with slate. It had tile previously and was slippery as all hell when wet and was also very '80's so it had to go. I'll post pics later.

What doesn't look good about it? Can you spruce up the area around it, instead of tileing it? What about a stain?
I'm with the rest, tile would be too slippery. Mop your kitchen floor (if it is tile) and try to run across it with sneakers on, then try to make a turn or stop.

Using tile is a bad idea. But it would be fine if you use stone or faux brick. Traction is the main thing to worry about here...

I would suggest a good quality stamped overlay. They go on about a half of an inch thick and if done right they will last as long as your concrete. I charge $6 per sq ft.

Why not exposed aggregate?

That is what I was thinking, that would look very cool if the concrete was in good shape.

Slate is my choice, but you can also stain and score it. It's looks pretty damn good, too. It's also the cheapest route.

My mom and dad tiled their covered patio. The tile looks good but I like the slate look like what Jimmy (Tyrone Biggums) has. It looks great!

Hmm, definitely didn't think much about the slippery issue till now. That may detour that route.

dont do it, just texture it stain it then seal it. You will just waste money throwing tile down.

I'm really liking the slate or stain, only reason we considered tile is b/c after we bought the house I found a crap load of brand new tile in the attic they never used! We were just trying to find a use for it.

Make sure you do Porcelain if you are doing tile outside, Ceramic can crack with freezing temps.....

Our front porch is tiled... the previous owner did it. I dont really care for it but its better than astro turf or something horrible they could have used!
