Best zombie movies

I'm watching Dawn of the Dead right now and it's in my top 5. Name your favorite ones.

The original Dawn of the Dead owns any non-Romero, and is probably his most poignant work. I know there are some other older, and newer Z-films that people like more, but this movie made me consider the zombie as a Jungian archetype. Not many filmmakers can have that effect, and he did it with a monster movie. Awesome.

I will say that I loved the concept of "28 Days Later," even though the zombies weren't really zombies. I'd always joked about zombie preparedness, and that movie blew away any plan I'd ever come up with. Bend over and kiss my ass goodbye is all I could think to do, faced with that.

Dead Alive -- Peter Jackson before he started making multi-billion dollar movies. Bloody as hell!!

Re-Animator -- Though, not technically a zombie flick, it's one of the best movies of all time in the "horror" genre.

Check out REC. Its a new one and pretty cool, not many have heard about it. I had a phase with my Blockbuster total access and rented every zombie movie ever, the fiance hated it after the first like 5-6 but theres some good shit out there. I dont know why they are so entertaining

There aren't really that many movies of the genre. Not many that are worth a damn anyway.

My all time favorite is probably Return of the Living Dead. It is fairly cheesy but the dark comedy aspect of it is great.

Dude you are right on with Re-Animator. I havent seen that since the late 80's or maybe early 90's. Another great film based on hp lovecrafts work is From Beyond. yes, now adays it dated but a cool flick none the less. would be great if remade today!! I loved the first evil dead flick. Dawn of the dead, the remake of night of the living from the 90's, Day of the Dead, most recently Diary of the Dead...awesome flick!!! 28 days/weeks were 2 good ones. Actually liked part 2 way better. The latest resident evil was really well done.

God i used to listen to robert smith and the cure years ago. Well not really listened to them but heard them from all the punk/goth chicks I knew. I never saw them live. Shit after seeing that video, maybe I should!!!

Yeah, From Beyond is another good one -- also starring Jeffrey Combs and directed by Stuart Gordon. Gordon made other movies based on H.P. Lovecraft's work called Castle Freak and Dagon, but I've not watched either one.
