Is it possible to do it and end up with a good out come? I found some seats that I want for my coupe but are grey leather. I would want them black.

From Ford, the 87-93 mustang "leather" seats were not full leather. The fronts, or faces, of the seats are leather, but the sides and backs are vinyl. I know leatherique [dot] com has a kit for sanding, and re-dying leather, where you can do a color change. I am not sure if they have a color change kit for vinyl though.

Leatherique is top of the line leather care. Check them out.

The seats are actually out of a 96 BMW M3 so I think they are real leather

Okay. If you use the Leatherique kit properly, it will work great. If you have major damage, like cracks, get the filler also.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Poke around this site.
