I have been itching to get a Ruger 10/22.

I would say a Ruger 10/22 or a Marlin tube-fed

I was just out on Remington's site and saw their Model 5. If it shoots as good as it looks than I want one.

All day long baby......

I've got 2 of those and one of the blued models..... Very accurate, you don't have to worry about magazines and they are easier to load.

Also they are about $185 from WalMart

I was looking at the Marlin model 60 with a synthetic stock and stainless barrel for $183.
Looks nice. Are the very accurate?

You can't do any better then a Ruger 10/22. I have shot thousands and thousands of rounds through mine, without a single problem. Plus the accessories out there make the possibilities endless.

this thread appears once a month and every time the consensus is a Ruger 10/22.

They are. I've had one of those and a 10/22, and they're both solid.

A Ruger 10/22 should be a given. With the amount of accessories that can be had for the 10/22 I don't know why everybody doesn't have one tucked away at there house. You can have a tacticool rifle or a nail driver all in the same model. Not the same can be said for other models. My first .22 was a Remington Nylon 66 and it would take just about any kind of .22 (Short, LR, etc) but I still sold it for the 10/22.

The reason I like my Marlin over my Ruger 10/22 is that you have to dump your ammo into your hands, then put them one by one into a magazine, then put the magazine into the rifle.

With the Marlin, you just shake the rounds through your hands into the tube. I can load my Marlin much faster that my 10/22.

Ruger 10/22! If the IDF snipers use them, then they should be good enough for rabbits. lol

You could always order a CMMG .22 conversion kit for your AR and have some cheap shooting fun!

Plus they cost less than a new .22

You did what? I hope you got some good money for the Nylon. Have you seen these at the gunshows and on gunbroker? They are going for north of $400 a pop. The last year of production was in 1984. The Nylon 66 was my first gun as a kid, I think I was 12, 1988. We used to blast thru the boxes of remington varity ammo. I love that rifle. I actually had it sent to a local smith to tear completely down, reblue the barrel and clean. I can not wait to take it out next time I am home.

If I were to buy anothe .22lr and I am sure I will in the next coming months. The 10/22 will be the purchase. The Nylon is great but I can get two or more 10/22s for the price of one.

Some Walmarts offer a different version of the 10/22. I think it's a shorter barrel.

You can't go wrong with a 10-22. I've got one that came with the factory bull barrel and target stock. I put a decent scope on it. That little rifle is amazing. If you miss a squirrel with it, you're just not trying.
