I do not but always check on UP and BNSF sites no one seems to be hiring that I can tell. He got laid off or furlough?

He got laid off. He was working full time for years as an engineer and the last year or so was on what he called an "away team" where they ship them off for months at a time.

The rail industry sucks right now, I'm a certified brakeman/conductor and I got shipped off to the mechanical dept so they could keep me around. BNSF and UP both have hiring freezes.

I'm a Trainmaster with BNSF. Extremely hard to get on, much less hold some of the boards right now.

Speaking of trains, where the hell did traintrash go? Wasn't he crowing about how the railroad industry would never slow down?

Thought you were working down the street with Craig? If we get the new contracts in March/April time frame we'll be hiring on.
