A true gun collector never finishes his collection.

Just get a Romanian WASR 10. They are the cheaper copy and shoot just as well. I love mine.

They are all pretty good guns. Nowadays, quality is not such a matter of what country the ak is from, but what receiver it is built on. If we were discussing primarily country of origin, I would choose the Egyptian Maadi, Yugo M70AB2, Yugo Krinkov (my favorite), or a Chinese ak. If you are wanting one to shoot occasionally, you really can't go wrong with any ak.

Don't overlook the Galil's. There are some nice ones out there for cheap, but be ready to buy an aftermarket mag. Some of the "reconditioned surplus" mags are just nasty.

Right. I got a Romanian WASR3 (.223cal) from DOHCTR on here. It's a great shooting rifle!

hehehe, good luck getting that Russian AK - sounds like your friends probably don't have too much gun experience.

prices look to be starting around $600

unless you are looking for a milled receiver over a stamped one, i would just buy a romanian

Yeah, but I'm sure he is talking about traditional pistol grip style AK's. I'm just saying finding original Russian AK's is quite rare, and if you're looking to get your first that's not exactly what I'd tell someone to look for.

Heres my WASR 10. The normal person couldnt tell the difference between this and a Russian AK. Both shoot the same round, just as reliable as the other. My only beef is the gay ass scope mount on the side.
