I gotta say, this is a badass gun if you ever get to shoot one. I went skeet shooting this past weekend, and we shot my friends Judge also. That is a bad bitch. If you dont know, its a .38 frame revolver that takes .45 Colt, and 410 shotgun slug loads. It kicks pretty good, but not nearly as hard as I was expecting. Definitely a short range pistol. You can tell the difference in the .45 and the .410 when you swap each out. Its also loud as fuck. This might be my next purchase. lol

We're going to be doing a raffle on a nickle plated model at the lodge, actually saw it just tonight. Anyone want to buy tickets? :cool2:

The only bad thing is the cost of ammo. We split a box of Colt 45 for 50 rounds it was 38 bucks a box! 410 slug were even worse. 7 bucks for a 5 pack!

Definitely a cool pistol. First time I shot one was when my friend bought his 3 years ago. It has some tight groups for a "shotgun."

Sorry to be a killjoy, but that thing gets no penetration if you're shooting any kind of shot with it, and there's no reason on earth to buy a .410 slug. Ever. Even if you have an old single shot .410, buy .45LC. If the bore's not too tight for a slug, it's not too tight for a real cartridge. Check out the "Box of Truth" evaluation, it's good stuff.

Imo, that was a hack job of an evaluation. Not saying it's wrong or right, I would just prefer a better, cleaner approach to it.

It's "The Box O' Truth" and it's not good stuff. Perhaps you skipped to the end when reading it or will believe something just because it's typed on a website. There are holes in their "evaluation" and too much room for error. I pointed the errors out starting on post 116 in this thread http://www.dfwstangs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=380061&page=3

I challenge someone to prove that they will walk away after having 5 rounds of 000 buckshot in .410 quickly headed into your torso at 1300 fps.

What's the muzzle energy on that 1300fps? At point blank range, the muzzle blast will do as much damage as the shot, if not more. I agree with their assessment that it would make a hell of a good snake gun, Fox466. I just wouldn't trust it in a defensive role without using the .45LC, and that doesn't really bring anything new to the table.

Are you saying a .410 at point blank range would not be an effective defensive weapon? Really?

I agree that without a long barrel to choke it down a little and focus the pattern a little, it may not be optimal conditions, but still a .410 round at close range isn't something I would completely dismiss.

No, I'm saying that relying on a weapon that's only reliable range is that of a knife fight, is side-stepping the needs of a defensive pistol altogether.

I that review better? Look at the 10' target ... there is no way that i am gonna trust something that pattrens like that.

Also, in the 3" judge the velocity is not going to be 1300 FPS, but closer to 1000 FPS at the muzzle. that is substandard as hell if you ask me.

I do like the custom loads discussed. My custom rounds might sing to the tune of some rusty metal shards dipped in fecal matter.

Gotta love the options that shotgun shells provide!
