I was in Gamestop yesterday picking up some ds games for my son, and had a conversation with the employee complaining about the cost of the ps3 as a gaming unit and bluray player. He said to wait til mid year this year and there should be an add on drive like the HD Dvd player they had for the xbox360. Has anyone hear any news or have links on this? I would totally by one over getting a whole nother system.:cool2:

why not just get a real blu-ray player instead of hooking it up to the 360 for no reason?

I guess I like the idea of it going through the xbox network. Probably will just get a denon bluray player.

My component hookup spaces are all taken on my receiver, so having one that would go through the xbox would be a big advantage to me, without having to buy yet another piece of hardware to split the already full jacks. Also, I liked the idea that my HD DVD player was just a small little standalone box that took up not much more room that a few dvd cases stacked on top of each other.

Not gonna happen. MS has been gunning for VOD HD forever.

I am not totally on board with there vod, having been there since the beginning; and now with their netflix video streaming. They better improve their library of new releases or a VUDU type service will make them obsolete on that technology front.

HDMI or death!
I have a first gen 360 with no hdmi port. If this one ever dies and I have to pay to repair it, I will be going Elite, so I can have an HDMI port.
