Russian Professor Predicts Fall of U.S. in 2010

MOSCOW — For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. Now he's found an eager audience: Russian state media, who are interviewing him twice a day.

A polite and cheerful man with a buzz cut, Professor Panarin insists he does not dislike Americans. But he warns that the outlook for them is dire.

"There's a 55-45 percent chance right now that disintegration will occur," says Panarin. "One could rejoice in that process," he adds, poker-faced. "But if we're talking reasonably, it's not the best scenario — for Russia."

Prof. Panarin, 50 years old, is not a fringe figure. A former KGB analyst, he is dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry's academy for future diplomats. He is invited to Kremlin receptions, lectures students, publishes books, and appears in the media as an expert on U.S.-Russia relations.

Mr. Panarin posits, in brief, that mass immigration, economic decline, and moral degradation will trigger a civil war next fall and the collapse of the dollar. Around the end of June 2010, or early July, he says, the U.S. will break into six pieces — with Alaska reverting to Russian control.

It's pretty sad when a guy from a country that nearly fell to pieces and is still trying to recover claims we are about to fail. This country is in serious trouble for "mass immigration, economic decline, and moral degradation" (especially the immigration and moral degradation stuff) but I don't think it is as bad as the nutty professor thinks.

Some of what he's predicting might come to light but I do not see Alaska going back to the Russians with out a fight on a global scale nor do I see the U.S breaking down into 6 sections . If it does , hopefully we are all by our self .

Exactly. This country throughout History has been through plenty of bullshit economically, militarily, and structurally. And with the times that it has, it has pulled pretty well through it. Russia's just mad because they are having to team up with other failing nations to unload decade old technology/weapons and old nukes technology to stimulate their shitty economy which has been that way for 50 years.

I see a change coming, but not what Obama has in mind.
I think the scale will tip heavily to the government side with the group of jagoffs taking over on 1/21, but I think 'for the people, by the people' will render it's violent head, by about 2010 or so. The pride in this country of the citizens for this country will persevere and endure a lot more hell than any other country.

My Grandfather used to tell my Dad when he was a kid that a war would break out at some point in this country. What he didn't realize is how far we would have fallen before anyone started talking action.

The country he fought for and spent almost 5 years in a POW camp for is not the same country we live in today.

Hate to say but i can see it happening, i think 2010 is a bit soon, but i think the 2011-2012 number is close, as bad of shape as economy is in, 1 natural disaster would re wipe out the insurance agencies bailout or not, once economy goes - everything else soon after follows.....and Yellowstone has had 250 quakes in past 3 days!!!

I'm so fed up with all these taxes and socialistic programs that I (we) all pay for but see no benefit from. And now we (not me!) voted thses neo democrates into office, those programs and spending will go through the roof along with the taxes. I'm ready for change! And not the type of tax and spend change that Obama promises and is already faltering to deliver. :mad:

I believe that economic reality has enlightened the liberals that in fact they cannot go out and spend like drunken sailors on pet projects. Many state governments are getting behind on tax collections and thus obligation payments, unemployment is up, general spending is down, and the bailouts continue.

Look at obama's backpeddling on tax increases as an example of what i'm talking about.
