Well my Toshiba laptop screen seems to have gone out. It boots up and all ,but no picture on the screen. Do these LCD's screens usually go out after 2 years? or could it be the video driver that has gone out.
I tried everything from a hard shut down, to taking out the battery for 2 hours and booting it back up but still no dice.
Any help would be appreciated !

Is it pricey to replace the screen or should I just look at getting another laptop?
Also, I need to burn/copy a cd with all the information that is on that laptop, can I hookup a regular monitor to it to see what's being copied?
Thanks

Well,,,, I went to hook it up to a monitor and that didnt work, but I did notice that I could see images on the laptop screen but kindof like the backlit portion of the laptop screen was not on. I used a flash light to see what was on the screen and changed the display settings from output to notebook to monitor and now the Monitor works (external). Since the laptop screen does have the backround images on it but just not lit up does that mean lcd or something internal?
I also tried a system restore but that didnt work.
Thanks

prolly just the backlight and/or inverter, cheaper to fix than replacing the whole screen and not hard to do.

sounds like the invertor... way more typical than the actual LCD going out.
cheap part, easy to replace
