lap top repair/info removal

I need someone that can get the info off of or repair my wifes laptop. We had a charger that ended up with a broken wire in the connector and the lap top quit charging. Now with a good charger when you turn it on you hear the fans and stuff turn on but nothing happens after that. I would rather have someone on here that CAN help me out do it over sending it out to a "GEEK SQUAD" type of place. If you can help me shoot me a pm. Thank you and Merry Christmas.

Goto frys, get the USB to 2.5 hhd adaptor and hook it to your home computer. If you can get the hot swap version the better.
