So I currently have the wireless card through Verizon that I use on my laptop. It's nice to have when I want to take my laptop with me but I don't take it places much anymore. It's also $60 a month and it's just not worth that extra $60 on my cell phone bill.
Who has good internet services that aren't too expensive but fast? This will be for my apartment.

Know anyone nearby in the complex with a wireless router?

I had ATT DSL when I lived there....don't know if it'll be much cheaper than what you already have though. Can't remember what else is available there.

I didn't say anything about stealing ;) Maybe they would allow you to use their internet for $10-$20/month. Cheaper than setting up a seperate service.

You're in Richardson? I believe Verizon FIOS is available there. DSL/Cable would be better, faster and more reliable than your existing service via the card.

I would not recommend using someone else's service regardless if you're ethical about it or not. Assuming you're not a sec guru... Assuming you do your best to not do stupid things on your network/Internet connection - you can't control/assume your Internet connection partner will do the same. Also, if your stuff gets comprimised you could comprimise or otherwise infect/cause issues with their stuff. Which would make the neighbor relationship decline.

Well I am moving to the Colony in two weeks....
I would never use someone elses service. That is stealing!

Ummm... that is still stealing!!! I am an honest person and wouldn't do that.

If memory serves, I believe that place is contracted with AT&T. If not, TWC should be available.

It's only illegal if you get caught :p j/k. Yeah I had a person steal some of my bandwidth a while back when we first had wireless and wasn't protected. Found out it was my neighbor and all he did was look at his email. ;)

IMO, its their own fault if they dont have it WEP'd or MAC Filtered. If it were me, and I was in an apartment complex, I'd "steal" the shit in a heartbeat... and I'd filter the mac addresses so nobody else besides me (and the owner of the connection) can leech from them. :D unfortunately, everyone around my house is smart.
