OU won the thing. Leave it alone. I think they (powers-that-be) did the best they could to determine who advanced. There's not a realistic argument with the way it turned out, so leave it be.

Eh, I see no problem with it. Reassessment is never a bad idea, and even the commissioner says that it needs to be approached with a level head without jumping to conclusions. The article said this.
He's right, whenever a tie arises there will always be a disappointed team(s). However, if they can think tank a better way to do it -- I'd be interested to hear it.

"There is still a lot of football to be played," Beebe said. "I feel terribly for the teams that are disappointed. If you win all of your games you don't have to worry about this scenario."
Win all of your games or SFTU. Just like anything leave it to the Jury/ judge/ voters and this is what you get.

I didn't state an opinion. You want to go argue/debate my opinion go jump in the other threads where I've stated them.
The reason this issue involves these teams is because none of the other conferences have this sort of tie breaker. Also, none of the other teams in the Big 12 South have ever really given the two powerhouses a good run for their money. It's just one of those years.

This comment cracked me up.
"Let's say that the eighth-ranked team in the BCS is in the same division as the third-ranked," Beebe said. "If the eighth-ranked team beat the third-ranked team on a last-second play at home, sending the eighth-ranked team, that would defeat the purpose of trying to send the team with the best chance of winning a national championship."
Why do people think that the team that loses has the better chance of winning a national championship? If Team B (the lower ranked BCS team) is good enough to beat Team A (the higher ranked but loser to Team B) in the season, what makes someone think that Team B couldn't win a national championship with one full month to prepare? That's a stupid comment. Use this year's example (not for an argument over who should go). Does anyone really believe that UT won't have just as good of a chance at winning the MNC as Oklahoma? Both teams are outstanding. OU has a little more offensive firepower while UT is a better defensive club. They're basically a push save for that one day (don't make this an argument people. It's not the point here.). I just don't understand this pattern of thinking by people. Any team ranked say in the top 8 of the BCS is capable of beating the #1 team on a neutral site with a month to prepare.
FWIW, I'd practically bet my paycheck that the Big 12 will change the tiebreaker to match the other conferences.

I don't really follow the college football ranking at all but this seems like a no brainer:
"Despite identical records and a loss to Texas, Oklahoma advanced to the Big 12 championship game in Kansas City because the Sooners are ranked higher in the BCS "
If there records are identical and OU lost to Texas then it sounds like Texas is the better team. What is so confusing about that?

It's simple. First off, UT being a better team is highly debatable. I don't think they are. But of course, there's no way to settle that with no playoffs.
It's a 3 way tie between Tech, UT, and OU. UT is bitter that they couldn't get it done vs Tech when given the chance, despite being dominated the entire game. Therfore, they like to 'forget' about the loss to Tech. In a two way tie, head to head wins. In a three way tie, that's not the rules. Period. End of story. Oklahoma got the nod to advance to the Big XII Championship, and pending a win there, to the MNC.
UT fans keep trying to make this a head to head thing, with two way tie rules (ignoring all along that Tech was in the running, and Tech beat UT). Problem is, it's not a two way tie. It's a three way tie, with a different set of rules.

That's what I've been saying all along. I don't have the answer, as playoffs present a whole new set of problems. But, something has to be done. Someone is ALWAYS going to get left out. It sucks, but that's the way it is. A line in the article above said it best.

No, you OU guys are missing the real point (as are most UT fans). The facts are that the Big 12 tie breaker is different than every other BCS conference. Yes, every school voted on it however many years ago they put it in place, so no one is to blame but the conference and assumingly the AD's. The Big 12 is going to reassess its system, and I'd bet change it to match every other conference. So, if the same events go down next season exactly as they did this year, UT would go to the championship, which in the eyes of practically every sportswriter/broadcaster and every other BCS conference is fair. It's not a matter of acknowleding the loss at Tech. Yes, UT lost, and on the last play of the game, but they still lost. It's you OU people that don't want to acknowledge the loss to UT and how important it SHOULD be. Trust me, if the roles were reversed, you'd be whining and mad at everyone you could be mad at.
I'm not upset at OU, Stoops, etc. over it. The system is what it is. I disagree with the result, but there is nothing that can be done about it -- until they change it, which is exactly what will happen too little too late. You guys should just be grateful that KU beat Mizzou last weekend. I think a Mizzou victory would've held UT in front in the computer polls.

Not really. I got over being mad, when I got over OU's loss to UT. I thought it was done at that point, and came to terms with it. It wasn't until the polls came out after the UT loss to Tech, that I thought OU had a half ass shot again. And even then, I wasn't so sure. Yeah, I told you guys I'd laugh when it happened. And trust me, I am. But, it all goes back to the Star Telegram article. You don't want to be in this situation, win all your games and you don't have to worry about it. OU slipped up against UT, plain and simple. They underestimated that defense, just like everyone else did. UT slipped up against Tech. Shit happens, and that is football.

I heard on the Ticket today that the coaches voted to keep it the same. It's up to the AD's now. I can't believe they're not changing it to match the other conferences. The scenarios where the lower ranked BCS team beats the higher ranked team but is kept out of the MNC have to be 1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000 odds. I still like the SEC system and have no idea why they won't switch to it. Oh well!

I would be curious to see which coaches voted which way.....
What I think would have been funny, is that they change it, and then Texas is kept out of a MNC game due to the new system, but would have made it under the old system. Hell, OU could come in last place next year, but if that would happen, I would think it was the best season ever.

I'll agree that if they change it and UT is kept out under the new but would've made it with the old or that if they don't change it and UT is in and OU is out but would've made it with a change would be funny. That's confusing. If it backfires on them, I think it'll be funny either way.
