I am in the market for a couple of trail cams. I can't justify paying $400 for some of the ones I see at Cabelas. I do want a good one for the money. I was wondering what brands all you guys use.

The cheapest ones out there will tell you all you want to know. I choose not to use them. I can tell all I need to know by lookin at the tracks. Some people like visuals and point count. Big deer tracks = big buck.

mine are stealth cam; had a wildview and it never worked right. IMHO digital only with a 2 gig card....I would also suggest getting one that a remote battery will plug into and use a solar charger. The most expensive ones are really high resolution, you can get pretty good pics on the middle of the line resolution cameras for about half tne price....

We got some great pics off the Moultrie one for $99. A 2GB SD card from Wal-Mart is 16$.

You can make your own, and have a much, much higher quality photo. Add even a cheap point and shoot, and simply wire the shutter to a motion sensor, and build a cheap acrylic box to enclose it, and build a large battery pack and you're good to go. You could build one for $30 over the price of whichever point and shoot you choose.
Hell, I even found a video of a guy explaining it

If I were to go with the stealth which one works very good for the money. I am leaning toward the Moultrie, which is going for $89-99 Thanx for the replies so far.
What about IR as opposed to flash cameras? Are they worth it?

I have a few of the Remington Ghost 5mp. They are good for the money, got all 3 of them for $120 brand new.
That hook up is gone, but you can find them for about $90 new.
They have the Infared and Incadescent. I use the infared and think that is decent to about 10 yards in pitch black. Has the expandable SD card slot. Can set for stills or video.

I like that they are giving a 256mb sd card. How long have you had these running? How would you rate them on a scale of 10 and ten being the best?

The 256mb will fill up pretty quick. The field had not been plowed and the cotton was setting my camera off every 2 mins. My 256 card filled up in 24 hours. I grabbed a 2gb (most the camera supports) and it will last about a week.
I have had them running about 4 months. Based on cost, options and reliability thus far I would easily give it a 7-8. I can get some sample pics off mine tonight if you want....
