It isnt over yet... Oklahoma is ahead in the coaches poll still and took the lead in the computer average.... hell, took number one over Texas and Alabama. Harris should be online soon. Whoever is ahead in that poll takes the win.... unless its really, really, really close.

2 first place votes for Oklahoma? Seriously? Just like last week when Florida got 2, those people shouldn't be allowed to vote. Like it or not, Alabama should be a unanimous number 1. Those 2 votes put OU ahead of UT by 1 point in the coaches' poll. What a joke that 2 people didn't vote or Alabama -- and I can't stand Alabama, but they are clearly the #1 team in the country.

that is the only comment I have made after finding out the results...that I am actually surprised at. I am just sick of the whining by UT fans. It started a week ago, when UT was ahead in the BCS. Texas fans were whining then and they are going to get worse now. Texas should be whining that their secondary can't intercept a pass and two guys can't tackle Michael Crabtree when he is pinned up against the sideline. Either of those two things happen, the threads, debates, bitching, whining and controversy of the last week is erased.

For the most part, these are kids on here whining. After the first half with Tech, I was stunned that UT even made it a game. Hell, I even posted on a thread during the game saying so. I won't "get worse"...never have. You've always thought the press (or whoever) favored UT all season. Did you not hear all the knob-slobbering that crew did last night for Bradford? Holy shit! lmao....why would UT fans have a reason to whine until now? OU fans were the only fucking complainers and have been for weeks on end since they were behind UT in the standings. Using your theory that UT should have intercepted the pass or atleast tackled Crabtree.... No offense, but Florida ain't got shit but Tebow. OU's defense might struggle with him (after giving up 452 yards to OSU), but UT's defense is for real. It wou;d be a great match-up...and the Gator's would lose.

The computers DO take into account the 45-35 loss, it just doesn't have the human emotion that goes along with it. Take the human emotion and agendas out and just look at the quality of the season, and OU is number 1. It is complex math and science and I am sure it is very hard to argue against the logic. That is also why it is only 1 part of the equation. People get influenced by scores, signs, planes flying overhead with a banner and head coaches calling in to interrupt a game to whine. The computers are not effected by that. Computers are not lazy either. You can't tell me there weren't some people that just saw they were the only undefeated team and voted them #1 based solely on that and that they are already at #1. Hell, there was one guy that forgot to vote in the harris poll last week. I am sure his opinion is VERY well educated. I am sure a coach coming off the field, preparing for next week really wanted to take the time to give a good evaluation of teams, they say 12-0 and voted them number 1 because that is where they have been all year.
Lastly, people are allowed to have opinions, that is why there isn't just one person to decide the rankings. Just because their opinion is different doesn't mean they are not an subject matter expert nor is their opinion less valid.

hahahaha....you know why I love seeing Texas lose? Not because I am an OU fan...well, yea that is one reason, but I love seeing all of the butt hurt UT fans bitch, moan, cry and complain about something when they do.
I spent last night laughing with my friend who is a 100% Michigan fan, whose wife and most of his friends are UT fans, about how he wanted OU to jump Texas just to "shut off of those dumb ass UT homers up".
My dad is a Tech fan, he laughed his ass off at the fact that UT fans would be bitching and moaning over this. He was right apparently.
What really makes my day is not OU jumping Texas, it is seeing all of you little bitches cry and continue to make excuses. I would probably just as happy if USC had some how jumped both UT and OU.

DO NOT relate me to anything you have witnessed as being whining, a homer, or an excuse maker. If you would take them blinders off you would realize what I am typing or have typed. Unlike you, I don't suck dick nor do I only cheer for one team's ultimate success. I have stated many times that I am a fan of the Big 12 with UT being my favorite since I was 7 yrs. old. I have also stated numerous times to just let everything play out to see who goes where. Ok when did Texas lose the lead. The last play of the game. If TT didnt score who would've won. Texas. I dont care if they were dominated the whole game until the last 1:28. I agree they were. But Texas had a chance of winning the game until the last play of the game. So how did they not lose the game on the last play?

Tech scored on the last play of the game to re-take the lead, yes. A game is 60 minutes long, just ask Cal and Stanford. Texas lost that game way before the final play. Many teams get beat before they even step on the field.

I dont think tech let them back in. I think Texas changed up the defense. Hell tech didnt score a TD in the second half until the last play of the game. I admit that Texas wasnt ready for some reason the first half. But I think the second half they proved why they were the #1 team in the nation. And I know a football game has two halfs in it and you better show up for both.

They might have proved it in the second half, but they also showed why they shouldn't be in the first. They were mentally beat and getting physically beaten up and down the field that day. They were fortunate enough to make a game out of it and Tech retook the lead on the last second. When you are dominated an entire game, you don't just lose on the last play, especially if you are the better team.

So UT mentally and physically whipping OU up and down the field in the second half to the point where their D was grabbing knees at the end means nothing then? You just don't get it. It's not a clear cut decision as to who should go. The teams are very, very close. However, one thing is certain when you compare the two teams -- UT beat OU by 10 on a neutral field. That point is beyond contention or discussion. It should count for more than it does.

You apparently have no idea about human nature. Figures, you are a dumb ass Texas fan locked away in an outhouse wearing burnt orange boxers with shit stains in your teeth. Here is some shocking news, I don't vote in the polls, so what I think about Alabama didn't lose them any 1st place votes. One, college coaches shouldn't be allowed to vote unless it's made public. Spurrier still puts Duke 25th on his ballot because they gave him his first job. I'm sure there are others out there playing favorites as well for many teams. Coaches don't have enough time to watch other teams other than those they play against to give a true measure with their vote. They may look at a box score and highlights, but that's it. Those are the same people that probably think OSU light lost by 20 on Saturday when you, me, and everyone else knows that wasn't the case. Unfortunately, that system seems to only favor scoring. Sure, OU scored 45 on KU, 61 on OSU, 66 on aTm, but they surrendered 31, 41, and 28 respectively. UT scored 35, 28, and 49 against the same 3, but only surrendered 7, 24, 9. Average margin of victory = the same. UT showed domination on both the offensive side and on the defensive side. The polls put too much emphasis on scoring because people don't look at the teams and the games. I agree, whomever voted UT first should have their vote removed, but I said that about anyone that didn't vote Alabama #1. They are the only team in a major conference to be undefeated. They deserve to be a unan #1, and there's no way around it.
Two, as one of the ESPN analysts said, how many tackles have the computers or their programmers made? They don't know anything about the game and how tough it is to go against your biggest rival, play games in succession, or how much emotion does come into a game. They do so well at predicting the outcomes to games. Let's see, they probably predicted OU would beat UT, UT would beat Tech, and that Florida would beat Miss. Emotion is a part of college football, and it does have an effect on wins/losses. That's why the winners of the big games should be rewarded. The BCS is all about making every week count, or so they say, but I guess they don't mean it. The Big 12 is as much to blame for this as anyone for their flawed tiebreaker method. Maisel defined it perfectly, and you can bet they will change their system for next year.

It does mean something, it means they played good enough to almost comeback and win, but not quite.
I do get it, I never said there was a clear cut favorite.
Since when was this a 2 team race? If I remember correctly there was a 3 way tie. The UT loss to Tech should count more than IT does because nobody brings it up.

The coaches shouldn't have a vote because they have some bias? That is rediculous and idiotic. By the way, not all coaches have votes...See Bob Stoops. Like I said somewhere, the coaches are the "experts", Harris Poll is the average fan and the computers just crunch the numbers. It ends up being a checks and balances.
As far as the computers, what does making a tackle have to do with programming a complex algorithm to analyze raw data? You need the computers to take the human element out becaues of what you described in your first paragraph. I agree with everything you said in the first paragraph, except coaches should have a vote and with so many opinions/reasons for voting how they do, there will never be a unanimous #1 unless the team is just down right dominant. My question is, if Alabama is the clear cut #1, why are they a 10 point underdog to Florida?

This team doesn't have a history of choking in big games, the program might, but this is a different group of kids, why penalize them? Last year they were led by a freshman quarterback, who this year is arguably the best quarterback in the country and more experienced. They earned a shot and should not be penalized because of past games. This group of kids had nothing to do with 2003, 2004, 2006 and some had nothing to do with last year.

It's a Sooner tradition. If they didn't want to play for a team that has a reputation of being a choke artist, they should've gone to a different school. It also isn't solely the players that this reflects onto.
Don't feel bad about being a fan of team you know can't hack it in the big games. I know how it is, me being a Cowboys fan and all...

OU beat Mizzou twice last year with No. 1 and 11 rankings, beat Texas last year......beat No. 2 at home this year by 44 points, just beat the No. 11 ranked OSU Cowboys by 20 at home.........5 Big 12 Championships, going for number six.........I'd say those are pretty big games.........you will hear no argument from me about the bowl games, because........well........what can I argue.......at least they got there?

Wow they fucking got there. Big fucking deal. If you are just happy about them getting there and not winning, then you are no better then an A&M fan. Who thinks they have a successful season if they beat Texas and have a 4-7 record.

Not referring to the days of Aikman, Smith, Irvin or even earlier days when I wasn't even around to know what a fucking football was. Quit trying to dig for pointless arguements.

Not trying to argue anything. Hell I agree with most of your above post. But if you are talking about the cowboys recently then yes they do choke. The reason I call them the chokeboys.

Yep, so as of lately the Sooners choke, so nothing wrong with calling them Chokelahoma.

Assuming OU beats Mizzou which is most likely to happen, you're telling me a team that has a history of choking in big games deserves to be playing for the National Championship? It's just shows what a joke the BCS system is.
Now you can fall off the edge of your seat and split your fucking face on the edge of your desk, dude.
What does history have to do with anything? Yes, they deserve to be there. Just like I said UT would have, had they been the ones to make it. But, they didn't.
I'm not disagreeing that the BCS is a joke, I think it is. I want a playoff system. But, exactly how does history factor in to BCS? It doesn't. I'd tell you to stop while you are ahead, but, well.... You're not.
