I don't think it is a foregone conclusion with the way the national media was nut hugging Texas last night. Voters are fickle. One good thing OU has going for them is that they are also lazy and won't change their vote because it would take too much effort to figure out why they should change their vote.

I agree, either team could get the nod. Being a OU fan I'm not going to rub it in if we do get to go because I wouldn't like it if UT fans rubbed it in if they go. Of course this is a sports thread....

Mike Leach should probably shut the fuck up and shove a turkey leg in his fat fucking jowels. Kinda makes things interesting, knowing that Leach was hoping for a shot to head to one of the major programs. I bet getting blown out by 40+ in a crucial game like that just fucked him hardcore. :D

I am an OU fan. Went there for my undergrad degree and went to the sporting events as often as possible. I would love to see them get the nod for the Big 12 Conference Championship and move on to play whomever wins in the SEC. That being said, I will pull for the Horns if they get the edge. I think either one will represent the conference well. Same thing goes for the Heisman.

UT has no chance. They gained a few votes in the Coaches Poll but OU should move ahead of UT in the computers. The Harris Poll should tell all but Texas would need at least 50 people to change their minds from OU to UT, but that probably won't happen. UT's only shot at the MNC game is if OU losses to Mizzou.

I think KU beating Mizzou will hurt UT in the computers. I think 50 people might have changed their mind if it wasn't A&M that UT beat on the last weekend. Good solid win but it was still A&M.

Lets just say I was really going to go cry in a corner, like many UT fans have been doing all day. Crying in a corner is actually the complete opposite of bitching and whining. Since you are e-stalking me, you probably also read where I was surprised that OU jumped Texas, which means I didn't think OU pulled it off, yet I didn't start bitching and whining about it, posing up a thread for all of the UT fans to laugh at OU fans in. Those computers use more math than you even know exists to determine results. They are highly complex algorithms and equations that take human emotion and agendas out of the system. They don't respond to lobbying and they don't care about the results. They are there for a checks and balances system and are essential to something like this to keep the brother-in-lawing between coaches to a minimum. I don't expect you to understand though.

no, everything about the BCS is built for when there is not 2 undefeated teams, that way there is a baseline system with 2 polls and a scientific/mathematical element for checks and balances. The Harris Poll is to contrast coaches agendas, the coaches poll is to add some "experts" and the computers are to take all human emotion out of it. It makes perfect, logical sense the way it is.
I do not think the BCS is the answer, but I do not think a playoff system, at least the ones I have seen talked about is the answer either.

Ok since we are talking all nice and shit to each other how would you solve the problem with college football rankings?

Ok since we are talking all nice and shit to each other how would you solve the problem with college football rankings?
With they bowl system the way it is, my solution isn't feasible because it would cause someone to lose a lot of money.
My idea was a plus one type system or a play off only with teams that are within a certain amount of BCS point of each other. Like this year, it would be UT vs. OU (assuming OU beats Mizzou), then the winner vs #1. That would cause some years to have a 4 team play off, or no playoff. The no play off scenario would cause the bowl that had the +1 that year to lose out on tons of money for planning, TV contracts, etc....
Everyone screams for a playoff system, but there is a reason the NCAA basketball tournament is 65 teams. You can't have a 65 team football playoff. We have people screaming about not getting into a BCS bowl, or making the national champion ship game, the same thing would happen for a playoff system unless you had a large field, which, like I said isn't feasible.
There is no clear cut solution. College football is in deep with the Bowls, and until the bowls start disappearing, I think we are stuck with some type of system like the BCS that normalizes the team rankings and the top two play for the title.

Each side has their case, as it's been stated many times on here. If by some off chance, OU gets knocked off by Mizzou, I hope UT can move on and make the SEC it's bitch. Regardless of who you're a fan for, this has been a damn good year for college football. Especially if you're a Big XII fan.
