I've heard they are crap, from a lot of people, but never owned one myself.

Their 9mm carbine is pretty good. Other than that, don't touch shit from them.

Worthless. They are worth more as a bludgeoning tool than a firearm.

Denny is right, stay away from the handguns. 9mm carbine is a good deal though.

great Saturday night special gun but I wouldnt trust it for any kind of self defense unless empty beer bottles are attacking you from 10 yards away. Honestly I have shot a 9mm and a 45 Hi Point and both would stovepipe rounds no matter what kind we used. Accuracy was sub par but the price was right in line with what you got and that was a weekend plinker.

I have a glock 27 as my carry around, but I thought for 250 for both couldnt be that bad.

9mm carbine was my first gun ever..and it shoots great and ate everything that I put in it.... it's ugly as all get out, but you can't beat the lifetime warranty. I have never had ANY bad issues with it.

Haven't ever shot the .45 but have a 9mm for a good throw down, just in case you know :) Don't load the clip full and it "generally" works OK. Got a Glock .45 and NEVER had an issue. Agree about the self defence issue and accuracy issues 100%. Gave all of $70.00 for it, exactly what its worth. Buy a better gun for self defence. My $ .02.

Mine had a laser and an aftermarket tactical stock. It was a nice shooting weapon. There are getting to be a lot of aftermarket options for them. They're really nice carbines.
I feel like I'm getting more gun per dollar now with my $1300 Lightweight Commander than I did with my $100 .45 Hi-Point. I know David L. Gary on here loves his, but I hated mine. Go rent one if you get a chance. Aimsurplus.com (A lot of other websites do, too. Look around.) has a shitload of good LE trade-in pistols (Glocks, Sigs, 1911's etc.) dirt cheap, so don't just settle for a shitty gun because it's cheap.

Same here. I just sold it to a member on here to pay for a new S&W, but I had the ATI 995 Tactical stock to make it look like a Beretta. Never FTF and was very accurate for a 9mm round.
I also hears the C-9 is good. Everything else is better used for paperweights than an actual firearm.

Thanks Yale, I do LIKE mine and I understand these guns a little better after about a year around them. They are finicky about the ammo: get full ball copper clad ammo, make sure they are +P (no light weight bullet/powder rounds), and hold it with a death grip (the recoil it what chambers/clears the rounds). Make sure not to use a tactical hold/grip as your left thumb will drop the clip out :o while you are shooting (Got laughed at while learning) and if your left thumb even touched the slide it will stove pipe, use the good old cup and saucer method while shooting. These guns are HUGE in design and are very hard to conceal, heavy to the point of ridiculous (Yes you could beat several people to death with the .45), impossible to dismantle/clean, and are UGLY. Hey! these guns are a lot like me  LOL. Accuracy is fully dependent upon the shooter as the design, one piece handle/barrel combination, is very rigid. I took the grips off and chucked one up in a vise, it hit the same hole every time at 35 ft, .....well it made a 1 inch hole after a clip full. I am a big guy with very large hands (I wear Mechanics/Ringers XXXL special ordered gloves) and the size of these guns actually works in my favor for comfort. I can hardly get my finger in the trigger guard ahead of the trigger of several smaller guns (Kel-tek and Bersa for example) For a beater to stuff under or between the seats, or just to go burn up ammo and have fun, these guns are OK.

I bought a 40 cal. Hi-Point in the 90's with an "in-store credit" from a screwed up slug gun deal (basically, ordered and pre-paid for a 12-ga bull barreled H&R and when I picked it up, was offered a thin barreled New England single shot at triple the price).
Anyways, used the pistol as a target gun and as a pocket gun while hunting. Really abused the gun and it did well for me, but I wouldn't feel good about using one for life and death protection. Ended up trading the gun the next season for what I originally wanted, a bull barreled and rifled single shot slug gun.
Just noticed Hi-Point offers the carbine in S&W .40 now, anyone have experience with one yet?

When you invite me, and I will buy the Dublin DP this time. :D
I am in that area more often now, but usually during work hours.

I'm waiting on a trigger group. The one from the factory needs improvement.
Personally, I like my carbine. I added the aftermarket stock and the laser, as well as a red dot. Decent little rifle overall...
