Rookie RB Felix Jones will be placed on the injured reserve and will have surgery to repair a torn ligament underneath his left big toe.

A date has yet to be set for the operation, which will be performed by Dr. Robert Anderson, a foot and ankle specialist in Charlotte, N.C.

Jones, the No. 22 overall pick in the draft, provided a big-play complement to Marion Barber and showed flashes of brilliance in his six games. He had 266 yards on 30 carries (8.9 yards per carry) and scored four touchdowns, including a kickoff return.

Jones suffered a partially torn hamstring on a 14-yard run in the loss to the Cardinals and hasn't played since. He suffered the toe injury while rehabbing his hamstring during the bye week.

The Cowboys' medical staff, with input from Dr. Anderson, determined that the best option for Jones' long-term future would be to have season-ending surgery on the toe.

I got what my orthopedic suregon said the "worst case of turf toe you can get" almost a year and a half ago playing soccer. They are doing therapy and all kinds of other shit to make my joint flexible again. I got scar tissue build up from hell and pain like crazy when I try to push off my right foot. They won't do surgery for another year! trying to let the thearpy work.

I said Fuck it, it needs surgery, but they won't do it yet.

Hope he gets better. I can speak from experience, that turf Toe is no fucking joke and it is the worst sports injury I ahve ever had. Over my Torn ACL, over my miniscus tear, and even worse than broken ribs.........

Turf Toe is the tearing of a capsule of ligaments at the joint where the big toe meets your foot. I got the torn ligaments as well as the Joint damage to the bones. You can not bear weight on your foot on flex your big toe. My Orthopedic surgeon told me straight up when I asked him how bad it was........

You can get turf toe from any surface. It's just more common on turf, if I'm not mistaken. I do know for a fact though, it's not just turf that causes it.

That's just what it has been called since they started noticing alot of the injuries occuring more on artifical surfaces than real grass. I got mine on Artifical turf, but mine was from a blow to my foot while I was pushing off of it to run. It put so much force down on that joint, it ruptured the capsule of ligaments and damaged the joint........ I have trouble running, pushing off, and putting weight on my foot still. I can't imagine how much it hurts a pro's game.

I do therapy 3 times a week and have special inserts for my shoes to limit the pain on that joint.....

I jsut want the surgery to fucking fix it, if they can......

Yeah, turf toe is a bitch. That and a partially torn ACL ended my soccer days in HS. I've got a nagging rotator cuff injury as well, that I never had surgery for. It's hard to say which is worse. For me, it's the rotator cuff because I can't function without my arm. If I was still as active as I used to be, the turf toe would be just as crippling.


If you notice, it's always more common that the faster athletes get this injury. Deion, McFadden, AD, etc. It's because the dig harder when they run.

There is one thing in my mind worse than being a bad team. And it's being an UNDERACHIEVING TEAM. I know all too well. My Eagles have 4 losses by a combined 19 points this year. And of course that FUCKING TIE. They are under acheiving bad and that is hard to watch.

I hate the Cowboys, but I can see they have talent. They don't play as a team mostly and they choke in big games. It hurts to see your team lose, but if they suck it's kind of understandable. If you know your team has talent and they just under achieve, that is when it gets heart breaking.........

I thin it depends on the situation. I think in dallas it is 95% Jerry Jones that is messing things up. Wade Phillips is nto the right fit for this team, and no one will convinceme otherwise.

IN Philly I think it is lack of execution. Not being able to get 1 yard in 3 different games this year has cost them losses. They are missing their Pro bowl RG in Shawn Andrews and the play calling is getting ridiculous. To be in EVERY single game, and even winning all of them till late means they canplay with anyone. One mistake a game is costing them their season one shitty loss at a time. If they turn it on, watch out.

And Cowboy fans don't give me any shit, the Boys played their best game against the Eagles and still needed a botched handoff from McNabb to Westbrook to win that game. Eagles have the talent, they need the execution.
