I'll be damned on the $80 express shipping bullshit. :o

The only guy that I would even think might have it would be the judge at Jackson Armory.

Well then you're screwed, haha. He would be my bet as it seems was yours. I'll ask around.
Oh hey David, you don't happen to know anyone local that sells oversized rollers for an MG42, do you?

He doesnt usually have crap like that. Laying around, but I still went by.
I guess I'll just keep burning up my old barrel this weekend and order some bipods for the rest of my barrels tonight.

Not many dealers around here carry machine guns generally, but since he does, and normally carries collector stuff I would think he might. I brought him that Springfield sniper rifle I had mentioned last month and he sent me over to a specialist in Frisco which verified and cataloged it - pretty cool.
Any idea on anyone who sells oversized MG42 rollers?

Oversized MG42 rollers?

yes, the rollers on the bolt head.
But how/why are they oversized?
I have an MG42 and they'd be worthless unless I could use them, Id suspect others would see the same.

I'm building one from a parts kit, welding the receiver back together and such. The rollers are worn down considerably, I also mic'ed the races and they are considerably worn from spec since this was an issued MG, looks like it got a lot of action. I had been talking to a few gunsmiths and they recommended oversized rollers, I wasn't aware this could be a viable solution on MG42's as it is on G3's and the like with delayed blowback, I know the original MG42V's were like this.

I get it now.
Why not just buy a new barrel extension and save the hassle and buy a semi receiver from BRP. Im not sure you'll find oversized rollers anywhere.
But IM not much up on the semi side of thing and the whole reweld stuff.
What kind of kit is it?

It's a German WW2 gun that was rearsenaled in Yugoslavia. However, unlike most kits, it appears to be all from the same gun, and there was no renumbering. I have yet to modify my receiver and trap myself into a semi auto gun. I figured I'd ask around and see my options and the intricacies involved in building a full auto mg42. Right now I've just been mocking up and making measurements in preparation to weld the receiver back together.

Building a full auto gun is always easier than making something semi auto.
Im not a Class 2, so I dont know the process of actually building one from scrap.
If you want to sell the parts. Im kind of wanting a good WW2 german top cover for my gun.
Who made it?

It's marked AR JT - manufactured in 1943 by Mauser Werke. Do you have a Maget?
David
11-19-2008, 11:32 PM
Yeah, my MG42 is a Maget (cra) NC (1944) gun.

Damn, I thought you were still waiting on your mp40. You came up with the funds for the 42 pretty quick (assuming its not a post sample).

I got my MP40 back in October. Shot it and then mailed it off to have it rebuilt and given a new finish.
The 42 is transferrable.

I don't know if any of these would work, but CDNN is in Abilene and may be able to get it to you quick.
There is no store front at their place, but they do ship.

Its getting that way for me as I grow older and realize that with an MG, ill actually get a return on my purchase.
Say I remember a time when you were deciding between an m60 or an 03 cobra and an mp40 :p

Yeah, I wanted a cobra badly. But not bad enough. :(
My dad sure was glad when the bomb fell on that kraut who was pulling the trigger back on the mg42 in the bulge.
