I found a place that has a few of these left for $849. and was wondering if these are hard to get. Mainly I want to know if this is a good deal or not.....I am new to the whole gun scene.

Thanks

It really depends on the gun as there are a multitude of companies that manufacture AR15s. It's generally cheaper just to buy a stripped lower and put it together yourself, although the price and lack of availability of stripped lowers is starting to discourage that.

Completed guns don't seem to be very scarce, to answer part of your question. As to whether it's a good deal or not depends on the gun and in either case I'm not really all that qualified to answer that one.

A quick google showed $1199, $820, $1000, $986 and $925 as listed prices, but there are probably some different trim levels that can change the price here and there. Most everything I saw on Gunbroker.com was $1k+, but the sellers on there tend to have astronomical pricing. Here's a link for reference:

FWIW, it doesn't sound like a bad deal to me at $849.

If it is a S&W flat top upper for that price, snatch it up. Make sure that it has the rear sights with the rifle. Dealers have been taking them off and selling them seperatly. Don't let them hose you out of the rear sights.
