I was at the range a couple weekends ago with my XD 9 service and got my first FTE with it. I was using WWB ammo like i always have. Towards the end of shooting (about 500 rounds), the slide got stuck half way back. I looked at it and i could see a shell in the barrel that was partly out, and the next round stuck on the feed ramp. I locked the slide back and tilted the pistol to get the round out of the barrel to see if it was a empty casing or if it didnt fire. But it ended up dropping out and falling onto the floor before i could catch it. I assumed it was an unfired round and my bro and i spend about 10 min searching the floor for the round and couldnt find any unfired rounds on the floor anywhere. So then we assumed it would have had to been an empty casing the just didnt eject since we didnt find any unfired rounds.

The gun has never done this before, I prolly have 2K rounds through it so far. The only think i can think of is that i was fatiqued by the end of shooting that day(500 rounds thru the XD and about 300 thru my G26) and my hands were sweaty as hell by this time, so i might have been limp wristing to cause it. But i'm not sure and now it worries me if it happens again when i really need it.

I would take it back to the range, see if it does it again. I wouldnt worry about it too much, but if it does do it again send it back to springfield for repair. If anything is wrong, I would be it would bet the clip.

Do you clean the pistol regularly?

I've never had this happen. My 19-year-old daughter put almost 100 rounds through it (weak wrist and all) and never had a failure.

I've marked the magazine that did it and i guess all i can do is check to see if it does it again. And yeah, i clean it after every other time i shoot it.

Every semi-auto will have an FTE sooner or later. That's why you practice the Tap, Rack, Bang drill.

I've never stovepiped any of my Glocks before, but my last range trip (a couple of weeks ago) included one. Look at it as a way to practice clearing the jam in case it happens when your life is depending on it.

Also, when you go to the range with anyone, take some snap caps and have the other person load your mags randomly loading a snap cap. Use it as practice clearing a malfunction.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens like 1 out of every 200 rounds. Any gun has random ejection issues. There are so many other variables at play to consider before blaming the gun. The ammo is probably the most inconsistent item. Next is how you were shooting it.
