Texas gun stores reported a huge surge in sales following the presidential election.

"It's incredible," said DeWayne Irwin, president of Cheaper Than Dirt, a Fort Worth gun shop.
On Wednesday, the day after Sen. Barack Obama was elected president, sales topped $100,000 -- a record.

Hmmm let's see...leftist idiot elected to office of president, run on gun stores, stock market down almost 10%, dollar had the worst day in 13 years this week. I wonder what all this is saying?

Along those lines, the worst post-election drop in the market since 1948...hang on! :D

I'm looking into upgrading my arsenal. Maybe a new shotgun, pistol, and high capacity clips.

I have a 13 year old, a three year old and an 8 month old. It'll be good for them no matter how this turns out. It's my job to ensure that.

I agree on the run on guns as a direct effect.
But come on Al, I know you're "financially" smarter than that to say the 10% fall in the market is a effect of a leftist idiot being elected president. There were also Big Companies reporting a loss in the last two days. Loss' that occured before the leftist idiot was elected.

Yep yep.
The English feel that way, and don't have many kids, where as the muslims are shitting out kids left and right.

a friend of mine deals in full-auto guns mostly, and he said that he's had record sales for the past month or two. i know several people that have bought up quite a few guns and associated stuff because of the loom of possible price increases, additional legislation, etc.

Of course there were. There were also job reports that sucked ass as well. The market expected the earnings and jobs report, it couldn't predict the election. So tell me how much of an effect it had again? It's anyone's guess. My personal opinion is that it had a much greater negative effect than the media would ever admit.

Of course he has. If you listen to the media this is "redneck hysteria". They'll go on to point out the Supreme Court situation.
What they don't say, of course, is that Obama and Congress can pass legislation anytime they want and produce de facto gun control. The legislation could take years to be overturned by the court. In that timespan we would be bound by it.

That's one of the reasons I'm going out and buying what I want now, while I still can. I'm not going to wait around to see what Oblamma is going to do, if he does anything.

it's pretty scary, really, especially knowing his (and his party's) stance on "gun control". as much as all of the people that voted for him say, "he's not going to take your guns" and roll their eyes, his words sure tell a different story. ...and like you say, with a dem controlled congress and president, it's pretty much pass-through legislation for the dems and i'm sure that their foaming at the mouth to get a bunch of gun and "environmental" laws on the books.

Exactly. What is your incentive to wait? There is no advantage, only risk.

Fort Worth's Cheaper Than Dirt! reported about $480,000 in sales in October 2007 but $890,000 last month, jumping to $1 million including the first four days of November, Irwin said. About half of the sales are guns, mostly assault rifles and other weapons that would be subject to the assault-weapons ban if it is reinstated, he said.
