View Full Version : I did monser sets of 12 reps with the 20lbers yesterday...

...and I'll be damned, I'm sore. :o It's definitely gonna be a slow road to recovery, I normally rep 225lbs for 8-10 on the military press, and had trouble with 185 for 12 last night. Two months off and a broken leg will definitely take a toll on athletic progress. :(

Don't feel bad, I didn't mention it to Dave either, becasue I knew it was gonna be a wuss workout, and that I'd have to revise the regular flow to accomodate my leg. I wanted to at least get a few workouts in to know that I wouldn't be a total hinderance to lift with. Bring it.

I'm out on supps for a good while, at least until I'm able to work legs again, which is looking to be a good year or so. I'll be back eventually though, and with a vengence. Much to Stangin4Lyfe's chagrin, I very well may be lookin' for a little test HRT (legal, of course) to "rehab" my leg, and the supporting gammet as well.

I take a little longer to get there/get dressed due to dealing with the crutches and boot. Should be about right, depending on your definition of "a few minutes."

Just to record it for posterity, I had to stick with 150lbs for sets of 12 on the lat pull down tonight, whereas pre-wreck I was was repping the stack (290 I believe) for 8. It'll be interesting to see how quick, and how much comes back...

Not really, I'm down to 238lbs now smarty britches(from 270).
No cardio either.
The stair mill will take care of anything else that I need off me.
Still able to superset 120's all day baby!
It's funny too, because everywhere I go people say I'm getting bigger.
I just laugh and think fools!

in sympathy to my hurt friend.. i TOO took 2 months off... shoulders and tri's was fun yesterday.. i havent done seated dumbell press in YEARS.. so my performance while not bad. was FAR from stellar.. it was harder getting the weight to my shoulder then actually pressing it after sats chest work out..

I did week 2 for shoulders/tris last night, and rather than being stuck at 135lbs on the military press, I repped out 165lbs for 4 sets of 12. That's still a far cry from the 225lbs I was repping before the wreck, but adding 30lbs in a week gives me a glimmer of hope that it'll come back.

I'm almost hesitant to push myself too hard though, I don't wanna end up one of "those guys" that's stacked on top, and has toothpicks underneath. I'm certianly not neglecting legs because I want to, and it's gonna be a long road 'til I can walk/run, much less push any weight with them. In the immortal words of Cinderalla, "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone."

Sympathy pain, duh. That's his story, and he's sticking to it!

Beilieve it or not, taking those 2 months off has had some positive effects. Being the type to never take more than a week off, that extra time gave my joints and muscle bellies some much need rest from the heavy weights. Don't get me wrong, my right leg has severely atrophied, and I'd gladly have my unrested joints back to be walking and doing squats, but I could see how a couple weeks of active rest could be beneficial to a seasoned lifter in the long run.

I hear ya about the guys in casts, what morons. I've got a rod through the tibia, and screws to keep it from spinning, no cast here. :D

I'm starting to think a great retirement will be working out for three hours a day like I did back in college. It sounds like heaven to me right now. When I get off work I have to choose between going home to see my boy and working out and well, he's only going to be one year old once so I guess I'll be a fat slob for now.

If I could figure out a way to work out at work I would be set. lol

After going through about 30 jugs of it...I am starting to get tired of it though.
I switch it up a bit with some Pro-Complex to keep from getting too burnt out on it.

I can't speak for the 3 lift total, because I've never maxed squats or deadlift, but at a not so lean 210lbs I could put up 405 twice. I don't consider myself a genetic freak, and could easily bench double my bodyweight (at the time anyway, my strength has gone to shit). You've made great progress man, and it's good to have a little self esteem, but get outta here with that pound for pound crap. ;)

I could maybe see the 495 deadlift, but neither that or the 515 squat doesn't really line up with a 300lb bench. Either his pecs are under-developed, or his form is less than stellar. Or maybe he's accounting for the weight of that massive ego. :p
