Did anyone see the car? Yep, that was me. I remember talking to one person that said they frequented this board. Many people came by the pits to look at it.
The basics of it:
I made a full clean/straight pass, 10.62@125 mph with about 200 extra lbs in it from its normal weight with no exhaust. Many people saw smoke from the car from the 1/8 mile down, but I never noticed it and the car was running fine.
As soon as I let off the throttle after crossing the traps, the car went left. I steered right to correct and the front grabbed and the a$$ end came around side ways. Slid sideways with the passenger door facing the starting line for over 100 feet when it finally tagged the wall. Bounced off the wall and probably went another 50 or so feet where it finally stopped in the right lane.
I'm fine, a bit of a sore kneck, but no other problems. Thank god for the full length subframes, 6 point roll bar, helmet, and 5 point harness. I didn't move around at all. The rearview mirror came off and either hit my hand or hit my helmet.
The car is pretty trashed, strut towers pushed back about 2 inches, passenger door pushed back, windshield busted, and all the normal front end collision items.
I've already had a few offers of free chassis to start over with, so it may not be too long before I have something else on the track.
Did anyone get a video of the crash? It happened at 9:30am Saturday during Time Trials.
I was also the one driving the Red F250 crew cab in Street Bandit and Quick Ford.

DAMN dude.. most of all I am glad to see you are ok. I had no idea that was someone on here. We were pitted one row further down directly behind you..
That thing hit the wall HARD!
The good thing is, the car can be replaced!
Be sure to post up when you find the cause!

No I was in the staging lanes though, when it happened. I believe that the first round of quick ford you ran me, did you red light that round?

The car left a very fine mist on the track about 3 to 4 ft. wide. It was very hard to tell if it was engine or tranny oil when we were cleaning it up. It started to smoke a little bit past the 1/8th and by about the 1000ft it was smoking pretty good. The next thing I saw was the passenger side of a white GT headed to the right.

As I unloaded it off the trailer yesterday and was looking for where the oil came from, I found the problem. The oil filter rubber seal was blown out. I did an oil change on Thursday before the race and did my normal routine of coat the rubber seal with oil, put her on hand tight and be done. I haven't pulled the filter off yet, but either the grommet failed, or its possible that the old seal from the previous filter might have been stuck on the block and I didn't see it.
I didn't see the smoke behind me and there was no indication to me while going down the track that anything was wrong.
Rainman, its possible I ran you first round QF in the red Truck. I didn't get any time to practice the tree in that truck and only made 1 qualifying pass in SB with it (on a .500 pro tree) before running QF. It ran a 17.75 in SB with a .28 light on the .5 pro tree, so I staged really shallow for QF and left on the 2nd bulb. It didn't work LOL.

We were in the lanes when it happened, and after I saw your car I told my Dad I thought it might be your car. The photographer also said he was a friend of yours but didn't know your screen name. Glade to hear you are ok.

Oh man, that just sucks. It seems like its always the simplest of things that cause the biggest of problems.

I saw your car in the pits after the wreck, it looked pretty bad, glad you are ok. You can see oil or tranny fluid all over the rear bumper, so you knew exactly what happened.
Hope you get another one soon.
