K well, My last hard drive crashed and burned, so I had to put in a new one. Loaded XP ( i have a crappy dell dimension 4600 ), everything works great, but I have no sound. I did a driver detect and it says I have a realtek ac97, but when I go to dells website and search for my drivers via the service tag the results come up with soundblaster stuff. And when I search for the Realtek drivers on dells site and view compatible systems it only says the Dimension 600. ??? I tried to open the comp and see what card was in there, but I'm totally clueless as to what I'm looking for.
I'm not retarded, yes I've checked if everything is muted, windows recognizes the drivers and says they are in working order (I currently have the realtek drivers installed) My speakers and jacks are all connected and working. I don't know what else to do.
