Ps3 Death

i dont know if there has been a thread about PS3's goin out but my friends PS3 just died. Yes died. You power it. The light turns green then yellow. Then it just shuts down. Has anybody had that problem? Supposedly Sony was gonna put out a massive recall but hasnt done anything about it :confused:

well, i just hope you dont play as much as he does(did) he's really sad now :p be carefull not to play too much cause when it dies....your fucked. He paid 1k when they first came out. And sony aint helpin any.

Whoever told you that, was clearly wrong.

I am pretty sure everyone on this forum can agree the quality of the 360 surpasses the quality of Sony. Sony's Quality control has sucked the last few years.

I never had any problems with this ps3, untill now. Ha, and even then, it just gave up. No sign or anything.

did you smoke crack before you typed this? my 360 took a dump after a year, my boss' did the same as well as a coworkers (3x, twice after they fixed it) but i will give microsoft props for fixing them fast.

i have extended warraties on both my ps3 and 360elite now.

LMMFAO!!! I've had THREE, count em THREE XBOX 360's and every one of them has had the RROD and now the last one has the other fatal error with disk drive laser going out. On the other hand, I have had my PS3 for almost 2 years and it stays on all the time with no problems whatsoever. Quality of the XBOX 360??? What Quality???

I've had my PS3 since 12/06, going on two years now, and it's worked flawlessly. My 360 lasted precisely 13 months before the RROD.

and has anybody heard...Microsoft is facing a civil lawsuit in california, some people finally sued them saying they knew the system was flawed and realeased it anyways. Should be interesting how it plays out

Sony released the 2.50 patch. I installed it, and it fixed all of my problems. My ps3 is back to normal!


From what I understand, the 2.43 was junk and fucked up ALOT of folks' ps3.

Games, movies, BD's, everything works now.

I believe the yellow light means the ps3 overheated which = not good. Sony should be able to fix it if it's still under warranty.

And who ever said the xbox 360 is better quality wise is on crack. There have been way more problems with 360s than the PS3 consoles.

I'm a XB360 fan and have not had any problems, hell I don't personally know anyone that had a problem. However, it would certainly seem the PS3 is more reliable.

Turn the unit on its side...my was doing that standing up...seems to be an airflow issue/piss poor design. The cooling fan is on the bottom of the unit(when standing up) and we all know what happens to heat...and they put the processor and such up high...

I've had my 360 for 2 years, replaced once by Best Buy right at a year(extended warranty bought before I knew MS extended their warranty to 3 years). This one is on its way out...and I don't play it very often...

About 3 weeks after I bought mine it died. Although it's failure was different. No lights came on at all like a fuse blew or something.
If he's not able to get it fixed please ask him if I can have the old one(if he's just gonna toss it out). I want to paint one candy blue to see how it comes out before I try and paint mine. Ill give him some cash for it or trade a game for it(if he buys another one).
