Well my desktop crashed out on me the other day and I figured it's time to just replace it. I'm surprised it lasted me 7 years like it did but now it's time for bigger and better things. I'd say that Vista will probably run much better on this new build then my last one.

Here's what I had:
Gateway E-4000
2.53Ghz P4
1gig DDR Ram
GeForce4 4600 TI 128mb card

UPDATED - Made some changes cause pops offered to pick up the bill if I could keep it under $550.

That's a heck of an update@ I bet it flys in comparison.

Yeah, that would definitely qualify as an upgrade. I'm still running an AMD athlon 3200 single core. And it works pretty good for what I use it. It just really sucks ass for video editing but eveything else is still ok.

To be honest I really had no clue where to go on mobo and processor since I haven't shopped for one in 7 years. Had a buddy direct me to that mobo because of it's upgradability (sp?). It works with multiple chip sets, has plenty of room on it and allows up to 16gig of ram ( i believe). He suggested the processor along with a couple others and it's what had the best review.

Nice thing is that I'm on a buget, so I'll be buying those items along with a sata drive, dvd drive, power supply, and sound card for under $800. Not including shipping though.

It's going to be nice to actually play games from the past couple years.

I'd go intel, instead of AMD. Just my opinion.

Why not use that kick ass laptop from a couple of posts ago?

Your desktop build looks solid, don't slouch on your power supply though.

Cause the laptop is for work and a little entertainment when I'm sitting in the airport or hotel room.

The power supply that I'm looking at using is an Antec 650w power supply.

Check first post and give me your thoughts and opinion if that'll work out together nicely. It's not the biggest or baddest by any means, but it's a major improvement over my current system.
