You got it. I said FREE.
At the FALL CRUISE 2008 , there will be a giveaway. I am not sure exactly how we are giving it away just yet, but the turbo has already been secured.
It's not a piece of shit JY turbo. This is a BRAND NEW BORG WARNER S400. This is the same turbo that pumpkinhead uses.
There are will most likely be a stipulation or two, but I will leave that up to our sponsor.
The turbo is coming from "turbodave". 99% of the people I have done turbo work have gone through Dave for their turbos. Now he's branched out on his own and is a Bullseye direct turbo dealer. He's local AND he's a board member. His turbo building knowledge is as good as they get and he's a GREAT guy to do business with!
He's just getting started and hasn't even published his website - that's next week.
He'll have a boot set up at the cruise, with a several turbos on hand. He'll also have a grill going with some hotdogs etc..
Be sure to stop by and say hi.
Someone will be glad they did.
Yes, you MUST be at the cruise to WIN.
****EDIT****
Ok, in order to be "fair" - we are going to sell raffle tickets to win the turbo. So, in other words - you do not have to be a member, you do not have to be racing...
but....
YOU MUST BE AT THE CRUISE - NO EXCEPTIONS.
I am going to try to have raffle tickets with me from this Friday until the cruise. The tickets will be 5$ each or 6 for 25$. There will be tickets at Dave's "booth" at the cruise as well.
The proceeds will be used to pay back for the classes. Example - if there is 872$ collected.. 300$ will go to each first place, and 100$ will go to each 2nd place...leaving 72$. The remaining 72$ will be given out to KIDS in the stands for helping me pull tickets, crowd control, or where ever I might need a kids help...

It is the same basic S400 that Clifton runs on pumpkinhead. These S400's have proven time and time again that there is no other turbo the same size that can run with it. They just simply work. And price vs.performance is no contest, nothing else even close

Dave correct me if I am wrong - but the 400 uses a 75MM wheel, the 480 uses the 80MM wheel.
Power, not sure - enough to make a 3050# car run some 5.40's. ;)
Edit - of course there are different options on the covers as well.

Those are nice turbos , It will be great to win one!
We got one making 900rwhp with a 331 V8 carb blow threw @ 30 psi . It is a S480 with a 1.32 AR 96 turbine wheel, John Deer cover. ;)
We got that one from Bullseye @ turbo mustangs.com
Now we are upgrading to the S595 with the Bullseye race cover. We hope to hit the 1000K mark.
We seen over 1200rwhp on a 4 cyl. celica from Paradise Racing.
And 1300 RWHP from a 6 cyl supra.
Those Turbos are the best bang for the buck.
Thanks :)

don't be misled just because It has a Deere logo on it. Thats just its original application But they can't be sold to the aftermarket because the logo is copyrighted . Go take a look at any Garrett GT4294, or a GT4202, you will see that the Detroit Diesel logo has been grounded off to. A GT55 is designed to fit a big ass Cat motor. Same turbo has in the aftermarket catalog, only twice the price

It is the standard/stock S-400 with a 75mm inlet (actually 75.3mm). It has the stock cover (or John Deere), and a 1.32 exhaust housing. We have been 5.4's @ 128 mph at 3050 lbs. That's about 850-870hp to the rear wheels.

Your right, twins would be the way to go when you need more HP, A pair of S595's would get you in the 3600HP range. But even if you don't need that much, the one benefit would be that you don't have to run the guts out of the turbo all the time to make HP. When you can keep the turbo in it's efficiency range, that's free HP. Less maintenance, longer turbo life, cooler IAT's etc. It is a win/win deal for a car like yours

Well it still isn't right .still have the miss when under boost. Datalogger shows that fuel pressure is fine A/F looks great, But I changed the fuel pump and regulator anyway. No help, swapped out MSD boxes, Distributors, changed carbs, no help there ethier..If I take the carb bonnet off and run it N/A it runs like a champ. And has far has normal driving it's fine. I'll probably end up yanking the heads off to check for bent/burnt valves
And yes, i will be bringing to the cruise anyways. I hope I can make right before then so I can make a few passes

NO NO NO! PSI or boost numbers are relative to restriction not psi numbers. A 2.0 ltr motor is not gonna make the same amount of horse power as a 5.0 ltr motor with the same turbo at the same boost level. BOOST is a measurement of CFM and restriction at a specific RPM!

ok... that still doesnt help me understand if this turbo could support 800 horse power or not. and if it could about what psi range (i know it depends on my set up) my 347 would be at to achieve that. i also understand there is a difference in different size engines making the same power. i know it will take lest boost for a larger engine.

On a 347 you should should be able to make 800-850RWHP with ease

Like I mention in the first post, it's the same one that's on the pumpkinhead. It has gone 5.40's. I think it will support the power you are looking for. ;)

Yes, thank you captain obvious.
Where else can you get a S400 for 5$ ??? I mean, it might as well be free, right?

The turbo is free.
What you are buying in-to, is an opportunity to play a gamble, to see if your ticket is drawn. If your ticket is drawn, you won the "gamble", and the free prize for the gamble is a turbo.
They can't say that they are selling tickets for the turbo because then everyone who purchased a ticket would have some ownership in it.
Just an observation.

ok somebody help me read this map... is it saying that to make 800ish horse power you need 2.2bar on my boost gauge? i know you subtract one bar from what its says right?
You figure your engine's airflow; that's the number thats across the bottom in lbs of air per minute. Take an average 302 turning 6000 rpm running 14.7lbs of boost with a VE of 85%; the formula is:
(pr is pressure rise; it is computed by: 14.7 + [boost in lbs] / 14.7)
(L * rpm * VE * pr) /5660
or
(5 * 6000 * 85 * 2) / 5660 = 901cfm
multiply by .07 to get airflow in lbs/min
815 * .07 = 63
Looking at the chart, draw a vertical line up from 63.
Now, the scale on the left represents boost. Pick the number that corresponds to your boost (2 bar in this case) and draw a line across. The "island" where the two lines intersect is the efficiency of the turbo at that boost level for that engine. You want the intersection of these two lines as near as possible to the main island of efficiency.

OK, Guys, I just got in some big nasty turbos from my new dealer: Bullseye Power. I thought after 10 years and over 17,000 builds/rebuilds that i seen it all. No way. These are the nicest built, nicest looking turbos I have ever seen. Come by and check them out. I have free Hot dogs and free cokes for the first 100 people, plus don't forget to get in on the drawing for the S475.

And Clifton, I f you see this, I got the new race cover that is a direct bolt-on to what you have now. If you want to test it out Sunday, lets meet up. Try it, see what it does with that beast of a car you have. makes 70-80hp more on the dyno over the stock cover you have now.
