Do you have a 1080p TV? If so, you're gonna be hooked.
I haven't bought a DVD now in almost a year. Steadily building my Bluray collection. When does this one hit stores? Definitely gonna pick it up. I never went to see it in the theaters.

Off subject....did you end up getting Transformers. It's badass on Blu-Ray. Don't know why it's 2 discs, thought they can squeeze 25-50 gigs on there.

I bought it when it first came out, but haven't opened it yet. Is it two separate discs for the movie? I'd be pissed if I had to stop and put a second disc in. All of the other two-disc sets I have are one for the movie, and one for the special features.
No...movie and some bonus on 1 disc...other disc is just bonus stuff.

I have yet to talk to anyone that didn't love that movie.
It's the first one I've seen twice in the theatre in years.

That's pretty common. Even if they could fit it all on one disc, I guess there is some kind of marketing advantage to selling a "Special 2-Disc Edition".

I'm sure you're right. And in the case of Blu-Ray, it may help people feel they're getting some added value, to help justify the price. As if the improved quality weren't enough, that is.
The only movies I have that are split on to multiple DVDs are the extended Lord of the Rings trilogy. And at that point, each film is 4+ hours long, so it's not such a bad thing. You really only watch one half of a movie in a sitting generally, and it's more like one 12 hour story, than it is a trilogy anyway.

I pay $13.99 a month for a 2 discs at a time deal. That includes both Bluray and standard DVD. It's your choice. You designate which you you wish to receive by default. That price also includes unlimited streaming movies that you can watch at any time.

but you can't just drive up the street and exchange it in the store, huh? or exchange it for a half price game rental? didn't know people still used netflix.

Blockbuster sucks ass, we started using their online service years ago when it was like $15 month for 3 movies and unlimited in-store exchanges. Then they changed everything up, started limiting your in-store exchanges to the the number of movies you get a month. Then on top of that raise their rates, ours popped up to like $26 month for 3-rental with 3 instore exchanges/month!
Dropped them without hesitation and joined netflix. I think ours is like $15-17month for 3 movies, and they are quicker then blockbuster was when getting you movies.

yea I loved that when blockbuster was doing the whole 3 movie and unlimited exchange. You know some people actually still get that for the $20 charge  . Theres never changed. I think mine was one of the first ones to change since I took advantage of it :D . I have had both.
Now I just do the instore thing at blockbuster. It cost me $23 a month, 1 movie at a time or 1 game which that is pretty nice to have. Plus blockbuster is only like 1 mile from the house so its all good.
well gotta go to sleep so I can get up early and go rent Iron Man in the morning :D

+1....We got our PS3 mainly because of the BluRay....now we have more BluRay movies than PS3 games. I cant wait to pick Iron Man up on BluRay!!

Back to Iron Man on dvd... I got mine at WalFart today like someone suggested for $13.88...my son is watching it right now, but am I the only one that has noticed that they cut a BUNCH out of the scene in the convoy were Stark gets attacked and kidnapped? Do they do that on a lot of DVD's when they go from the theater to DVD? (cut scenes that were in the theatrical release)
But to chime in on the online rentals.. Blockbuster FTW, I am grandfathered in like some others at $19.99 a month - 3 movies at a time - 2 coupons per month for instore movie or game rentals - exchange any online movie for instore movie. I think that package is almost $30 a month now.

its part of the blu-ray... It goes on the internet and downloads somethings before it starts to play. Most of the new blu-rays do it, but this one took the longest I've ever seen (~10mins on my PS3)
Awesome movie!! Well worth the $25

Not on my PS3 they don't. Once in a blue moon when I throw a game in I'll have to download updates, but I've never had to wait for a movie.
Yea, on mine I never had to wait for movie. Only if you choose to from what I know. One example is Transformers.

on the ps3 if you go to the folder BD data that is what has been downloaded... This is the first movie I've ever had to wait, but I have about 6 different data files in there for various movies ie transformer etc. I guess those files are much smaller or download in the background

I have no idea what any of that means.
I watched Iron Man last night, and when it started it asked me if I wanted to download the BD Live updates. I chose no, since I don't plan on using any of that stuff, at least not any time soon.
The movie was a letdown. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't that great imo. It was very slow in parts, lacked any real humor, didn't provoke any emotions one way or another, and after it was done, I looked back at the "action" and realized he didn't really do a whole lot. It reminded me of Spiderman - a superhero movie that just fails to really grab my interest.
The coolest parts for me were the house, the cars, and the chicks.
I've never been much into comic books, so maybe that has something to do with it. I enjoyed Transformers much, much more than Iron Man.

Mine did that when I went into settings to see what was available, it would never leave. It would just scroll up and down the available choices, hit enter, no chnage. Had to stop the disc and start again, then it was OK
I agree with JLUV, the movie wasn't all that I expected. Mayeb it woulda been better if it was rated R and showed some tits. Well, no maybe, it woulda been better.

Ilacked any real humor
What!
That movie had a great sense of humor.

But... Spiderman is the super hero movie that set the bar for modern super hero movies. Better than any before it, and remains in the top 3 at least. (The new Batman movies are top notch)

Whoah there Hoss, you can't possibly mean that. That bleeding anus of a movie can't hold a candle to Iron Man. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it for what it was, and I own the DVD, but Transformers is seriously, seriously flawed. The God-awful "way too hot computer super genius that happens to be friends with the fat, funny black guy computer super genius" bullshit plot line alone makes it a turd marinated in FAIL and baked at 375° for 90 minutes recipe of crap compared to the thoughtful, flawed, and funny character that Robert Downey Jr. fucking nailed.

I'm perfectly okay with you having an opinion totally opposite of mine. You're way too excited about Spiderman and Iron Man for me to take you seriously anyway.
Batman Begins was good. The Dark Knight was good. Both much better than Iron Man and leagues beyond Spiderman. I still liked Transformers, I am Legend, and 300 better than any of the superhero flicks.
But don't fret. It's okay to like whatever you want.

Hahah, that's no doubt. We've already established that your view of comedic cinema is all fucked up. It makes sense that your perspective on action/super hero movies would be similarly skewed. :D

just got it in blu ray from Netflix today. Hope it's good!
I just popped it in to see if I had to download anything. It does give you an option if you want to or not. If you just want to watch the movie, don't bother with downloading part. It's for new features on menu and extras I think.
that's all....carry on

Watched it on Blu-ray this weekend. Great movie. The Dolby TrueHD soundtrack was amazing. My sub had a great workout. Make sure you keep watching after the ending credits.
