If it had not been for the Gulf War, CNN would be gone. Right place, right time. They were named "Chicken Noodle News", by other news organizations in the late '80's, early '90's.
You're little cartoon about Fox News is funny. Did you know that more people watch Fox than CNN, MSNBC, and several others COMBINED. Real folks want real news.

More people watching them doesn't mean they're more accurate. It just makes them more popular. They make their living just like any other 24hr news outlet, and their collective existences are predicated on fabricated scandal. Fox News just shouts the loudest. Is there a good alternative? Hell no. I just watch as much of all of them as I can, listen to the BBC feed at night, and read some opposing newspapers as well, and do my damnedest to weed through the bullshit. Occaisionally, I'll try to read up on something, and I'll end up feeling like I have no idea what's going on. Also, most of them just run spins on the AP feeds anyway.

"Accuracy" is not an issue for news organizations, it's the perspective. Almost 40% of the Fox audience are democrats, which shows me that even they realize they get a better presentation of the news. There was a good article about how all the different reporters/hosts ended up at Fox, and basically they were tired of the left leanings of all the other news outlets.
