I've got a remote control ceiling fan in my bedroom and the light randomly turns on. The fan will be on and the light is off and it'll just kick the bottom lights of the fan on for no reason. I can turn it back off no problem but it's been happening about 2 or 3 times a week. It's completely random, no set time or anything like that, sometimes 1a, sometimes 3a, sometimes it doesn't happen at all. This has been happening on a more frequent basis, I'm thinking I might need someone to check it out, any ideas on what it could be (other than casper)?

Those remotes are RF. Check with your neighbors to see if they are setting if off.
That or some kind of radio interference might be causing it.

interference is a possibility. Maybe I could change the frequency on the fan? I've taken the battery out of the remote and it still did it, so that isolated it to be something with the fan itself rather than the remote.

Are you using a CFL bulb, or incandesant? CFL's can come on if the fan is set up as a dimmer light.

I'll double check that. I just bought some cheap GE $2.89 box of 6 lights to replace two that were dead. I wanna say the issue started before I replaced 2 of the 3 in there though. I know they weren't the energy efficient ones, they're the 40w bulbs.

I have had the exact same problem in 2 different houses. Never found the source of it though.

bet it's a neighbor, unless you changed the inital setting on the remote and in the fan. The place I lived at last year had 3 rooms that they changed the remotes, but not the fan, so the first day was interesting

We have the same problem. It came on at 1:30 this morning and woke me up. Been trying to figure it out for a year now.

You should have someone look at the fan while you are operating the remote and Walking away from the house to see what kind of range you get..

Don't think it is the remote...

My two Grand Lodge fans that I bought at lowes does the same thing I have returned them both got two new ones same thing changed the setting on both fans. They both come on random. I think it has to do with the cell phone signal and the phones messing them up
