I'm guessing the longer barrel will be more accurate and that's the only difference? I don't plan on carrying it on me too much so I'm not overly concerned about a 5in being too bulky. That and I'm a bigger guy so I think I can get away with carrying a larger pistol and it still not be noticeable.

I went with the 5in and the stainless slide on mine and love it

The main thing on the XD's I did not like was the slide. It takes too much effort to pull back. In my opinion I would go with the H&K USP series which is what I went with. Now I want a H&K in a compact version as well!

Same here I purchased the 5 inch model xd45 awhile back and love it. I have never carried on it on my persons. It usually stays in the car, truck or house.

Haven't heard about 5in being any more accurate.

I had the 4in Service for a while. Great gun.

I think there are more parts options available for 4in, like springs and guide rods.

Whichever one you can maneuver/carry better.

Obviously, the distance between sights is different. But XD is not really an accuracy above all type gun.

How much more accurate do you need with a pistol than the xd 45? I have seen them @ 15 - 20 yards almost in the same dang spot.

I can shoot 1in groups @ 25 yards with my 1911.

XD is excellent gun, that is why I bought it.

You can get aftermarket springs with a lighter weight. The 1911 world does it.

Hmmm, I did not think about that. Thanks, I will pass that on to my wife. She was really looking at the XD's but also did not like how hard you had to pull the slide back. How much are springs for these?

I bet I could drop my H&K in water, sand or whatever and it would still fire! Can the XD's say that?

I guess after firing both I am still partial to the H&K USP series. ;)

You "Bet". Someone else has done it. I can't find the original link, but it's on springfield's website now.

My XD has been absolutely flawless. A friend of mine has a USP compact that has been less than reliable. I personally know 15 people with XD's that have done the job without even a hiccup.

I'm not saying the XD is better, I'm just saying that I will gladly trust my life to mine, because it has seen thousands of rounds and has given me no issues.

http://springfield-armory.primediaoutdoors.com/SPstory11.phpNot bad, but it's no Glock.I'm not saying the XD is better, I'm just saying that I will gladly trust my life to mine, because it has seen thousands of rounds and has given me no issues.Yeah, if we're going to go on the "what's better" ride, you've got to throw Glock in there, at the top of the list. Hell, once you've got Glock on the list, there's really no point in making the rest of the list.

I keed, I keed. :D

I would not be so cocky about the HK's. They are a nice firearm though

Thanks for the read on the glock, I think for my CHL I will look into the glock! ;) My brother has one in the sub compact form and he loves it! He can't say enough good things about it.
