Glock 27. Nothing wrong with the XDs, but I prefer the feel of the Glocks more; there are plenty of people that are just the opposite. Also because I don't have trouble handling the .40 S&W in a subcompact. If it doesn't fit you right, you could also look into a 23. They're bigger than a 27 but not much bigger than a 29, and I have no trouble concealing my 29.

XD over the Glock..
I have owned quite a few Glocks, actually a 26 was the first legal pistol I bought when I turned 21, and I would still go with the XD over the Glock.
Not sure if you have felt/shot each pistol yet, but like others posted above, I suggest you do. Once you do I think that will make up your mind.

i have owned a g26 and g27 in the past, i own a xd40 service now and i love it. just wondering if the slight size difference g27 being smaller makes it an easier carry. looking to get a cold weather carry as i use the lcp for summer. thanks gents.

god bless.

I dont have my CHL yet, so I dont carry. I really like my xd40 subcompact though. It fits in my hands alot better than all the glocks I have shot (i have semi large hands).

I own and carry an XD9, and all things considered, am happy I went with it over the .40. I tend to have stretches of running a lot of ammo through her, kind of a "binge" shooter if you will. Though the .40 packs more punch, I'm more accurate in a rapid-fire scenario with the 9mm. The key is being confident in what you carry, and I'm VERY confident with it.

i have shot both....own a XD9 service model. I feel more comfy shooting the XD than the Glock, thats why i bought the XD. So the XD gets my vote..

I've owned Glock's since the early 90's and there what I'm comfortable with. I've had them in both 9mm and when the .40 S&W came out I switched to it. I've stuck with the Glock because I'm comfortable with it and it's been out longer than any of the other poly guns like what S&W, Springfield, and Kahr have to offer. If I had got into pistol's later I might have tried some of the others but like I said, Glock is what I'm comfortable with.

That being said, going with either Springfield or Glock, see what fits your hand better. I do believe the grip angles are different and would make a difference in the way they feel. As far as 9mm versus .40 S&W, shoot them both and go with what you shoot better with. I've got friends that have tried my G27 with .40 S&W and they complain about the sharp snap from the recoil along with the abbreviated grip hurting.

I'm from the school of thought that bullet placement is just as important (if not more) than caliber. If you can hit someone with a big bullet but you can hit him several times with a smaller one your better off. Carry the biggest caliber that your comfortable with. I'd go with a .45 if it wasn't to bulky for me to carry (at least in a 1911 frame for me) as I can shoot that just fine if not better than a .40 S&W.

I have both an XD-9 and Glock 26. They are both great pistols. The grip is a bit different on each. The XD grip seems to have better ergo's for my hand and feels more comfortable. But the wierd thing is i can shoot a lot tighter groups with my glock. For that reason alone is why i like my Glock better

Glock because I like them over the Croatian.

Also take a look at the M&P 9c

go shoot them both

best advice in this thread so far...

don't take anyone's word for which one to get...go shoot them both and buy whichever one you like more...

This is more for the caliber difference, not suggesting a Glock to you. But I honestly can't tell much of a recoil difference from my Glock 19 (9mm) and my Glock 27 (.40 S&W). The 27 is a bit more difficult to control only because of the shorter grip.

M&Ps are nice because you can change out the backstrap on the grip to tailor the grip to your hand.

Shoot them both. Also if it is for winter why not look at the 19/23 or the 4" XD compacts?

Seen it, had an ex co-worker that has one. Wish I could afford it but it's just to pricey for me right now and my Glock fits the bill perfectly for me.

My g/f has a G26. I've had a G27. I preferred the G26 because it was easier (and cheaper) to shoot than the G27.
