Broken TV

I've got an older Sony tube TV, it's rarely been used because about a year after we bought it we started having problems with it. Whenever you turn it on the picture will be normal and then it'll shrink to about half the screen and then will totally go away. Anyone have any clues as to what I might need to fix? I wanted to check here before I take it to a shop and spend $100 just to have them look at it.

probably the power relay . i have a 37" flat and it goes half screen and goes off.
call local shop said it would be about 80-85 to fix it.
