View Full Version : Water From Roof Issue?

In my back yard there's a spot where water is coming straight from the roof and hitting this same spot making a hole..pretty good size too. I bought some rocks, a fountain, and a piece of mulch to put in that spot. Now that it's been raining today I'm seeing the water still miss the fountain some and still penetrate that same area. What can I do to stop this? There's no gutters there, would installing one be my only option?
Thanks

Yea, I'm thinking gutters. I've been trying to go without gutters, but I may need to in the back because I'm having a similar issue.

Gutters are money well-spent.

Gutters are the solution, and definitly the most cost effective. My house is an avg 3/2/2 1500 ft and when I had gutters put on the entire house it was around 600 dollars...it is priced by the foot, but just to give you an idea.

:o I've got 2700sq ft 4/3/2, could I just get enough to run that water to another area less important?
I guess I'm the contrarian:
I took my gutters off to help water the foundation when it rains. On the roof valleys that collect alot of rain as a large water fall, I have put either native looking stone in a stack to keep it from splashing on the house or planted a strong leaved shrub like holly. A landscape architect could easily give you a small design. The Home Depot blocks just look bad.

you can just put them where you want them...you should be able to have it done pretty cheap, for that matter home depot sells the pieces you could do it yourself pretty quick and easy

If anybody needs a good gutter guy shoot me a pm, I know a guy. He's not the cheapest or the most expensive but he won't cut corners. I've known the guy for ten years and he will take good care of you.

I'd recommend gutters. I understand what the one user posted about keeping the foundation moist - but if it is raining that rain is doing it. Also, I don't think you want TOO much water being pushed by your foundation.
I use the plastic piping to get the water to drain where I want it to.
